I missed that. I just saw that they were planning on a massive tour. I couldn't see them at Roo anyway. No slots really for that band as they are a main stage act, but I also wouldn't be surprised.
ELO is re releasing mastered copies of all their albums I still really hope they are gearing up for a full on reunion. Even after loosing their cellist to a rogue bale of hay earlier this year.
Iron Maiden 2011 tour is in the Netherlands on June 8th & than has no scheduled dates until the tour starts back up on June 27th in France
Missed that as well as I'm not the biggest metal fan. I'll probably be somewhere else if they play, but if they play, bring em on. I'll check them out for five minutes and leave the headbanging to the rest of you.

Like them. See them in a tent or they could be a headlining Thursday act?
^If it was a full on reunion and tour I would assume they headline as the Classic Rock act. Their tours were huge productions back in the day. Look up some youtube footage of the flying saucer stadium tour.

They're that big? I knew they were big but I didn't think they were Stevie/Boss/Metallica/Police/Tom Petty big.
In other news Arcade Fire's touring in July. They're playing in Spain. Just keeping the real 2011 headliner speculation going. So talk amongst yourselves.

They were that big, in fact Jeff Lynne was a big part of all of Tom Pettys projects. They have been essentially broken up since 1986 though. Like a lot of bands they went through a period where they were every music snobs favorite band to hate on, but they are undergoing a Renaissance and getting a lot more respect these days. From what I have heard the production at the shows was close to Pink Floyd level as well. I think it is fair to say that in their heyday they were close to the size of a NIN in their prime, or Phish maybe. They certainly played mostly stadiums/arenas. The other issue has been that certainly their best tunes are not what gets played on the radio. Check out this video, this song is getting some play these days in commercials and movies, and it is a lot more representative of their work than "Dont Bring Me Down".

Yeah, they probably aren't as big as "Stevie/Boss/Metallica/Police/Tom Petty" but back in the day they definitely were. I'm not sure if they command a headliner spot, but maybe! I'd thought of them before but wasn't sure how much current interest there was in a reunion.
Reunion aspect + the scale of their live show = big stage act for sure. I think they fit Late Night better though, that would be so awesome haha
Maybe I'm a douche fer sayin' this, but Metallica in no way, shape, or form could rival Roger Waters' tour of "The Wall." Have I seen either artist? No. Did I purposefully miss Metallica at 'Roo '08? Yes. Have I seen the currently tourin' Roger Waters "The Wall?" No. But damn, Metallica will never reach the almightyness of any Pink Floyd. Ever. And I do respect what they have done pre-Re-Load. But after that album especially they are just garbage.
Also...I've had a few beers so I may not make so much sense.

They are in a completely different category, you can't really compare the two. I am interested to see what they put together that will supposedly rival "The Wall."
And Death Magnetic was really good. Everyone is glad St. Anger is a thing of the past.

That article is from March and nothing else has been mentioned about it since. I would love to see it happen, because Metallica definitely bring it live and if you could throw in an amazing stage show that rivals The wall it would be nothing short of amazing. It should be noted that 2011 is the 20th anniversary of the Black Album and the 30th anniversary of the bands first rehersals and shows.

I am not huge fan of their music, but I love huge productions I would be interested to see what they bring to the table for this.
