Slightly off topic but I was just looking up the lineup for the first festival I ever went to. It is pretty funny who the headliners were vs the smaller bands. This was 10 years or so before the first Bonnaroo.
Headliners
* Blues Traveler * Widespread Panic * Aquarium Rescue Unit * The Samples * Big Head Todd & the Monsters * Allgood
Non-headliners
* Phish * Allman Brothers Band * Melissa Etheridge * Soulhat * Royal Crescent Mob * Oroboros * Cycomotogoat * Masters of Reality * The Authority * Warren Haynes * God Street Wine * Dave Matthews
You went to the H.O.R.D.E. Festival did you? I went to the one where Lenny Kravitz was headlining. Blues Traveler was huge. Never thought they would become a novelty act.
-When I Hear My Name -Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground -Blue Orchid -Passive Manipulation -Red Rain -Death Letter -My Doorbell -Hotel Yorba -Same Boy You've Always Known -Lovesick -Little Ghost -We're Going to Be Friends -The Hardest Button to Button -Black Math -The Nurse -I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself
Encore: -Ball and Biscuit -Seven Nation Army -Screwdriver
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.

Thats a very conceivable lineup, gus. I wouldn't mind it either. I'm not hoping for U2, but in that scenario it would guarantee me a good spot for MMJ.
Good lineup gus, pretty realistic. I'm definitely happy with that lineup too, so I guess it won't happen. Fistful of Mercy->Arcade Fire->Daft Punk would be a helluva night.

I love Pavement, don't see how they're overrated when most people probably haven't heard about them. Sure Pitchfork jizzes over them, but who cares about them?
Also, i would love to see QotSA, but they wouldn't headline.
And finally, I'm not a fan of that genre of music to begin with, but i would rather have most other "Jam" bands over Dispatch.
QOTSA would be a perfect Pre-Headliner for U2 or Radiohead or any rock headliner they put on the What Stage. Pavement, guess I don't get it. They are good, but they are making this comeback to be the Rolling Stones farewell of the late 80's.
Check it I'm from the "Bang EM" aka Jacksonville, FL and i know a gripp of folks be going to Bonnaroo from there. I mean look the guy I used to work for in Bonnaroo is from there (JaxBeach Seafood I know yall like that gator tail dont lie) so we gotta get some dirty south music out there for the big 10th. Cool Breeze, Dungeon Family, Goodie Mob, Backbone, Slim Calhoun, Witch Doctor, OUTKAST, the whole Organized Noise squad. At the very least Outkast and Witchdoctor. Please try and put in some work for tthe Kast I know them tear it up in Bonnaroo.

Which bands are big enough to headline Bonnaroo 2011 but wouldn't? I remember that interview where they mentioned that there were more headliners than they could fit. What means that there are headliners who are playing a smaller slot. No?
That's a misquote. Ashley Capps was referring to the number of Headliners to choose from was greater than they could fit in at Bonnaroo. We need to have this info somewhere.
"Speaking of surprises, next year is a big one for Bonnaroo. You’ve been quoted as saying that you have “more headliners than we can fit…”
Did I say that? We’re certainly excited about the options that we have for the tenth anniversary, but it’s all a process. It’s hard to say right now what it’s going to look like, but certainly it feels good so far. I think a lot of the ideas we’ve been talking about amongst ourselves as well as to artists about and so on, I think we’re going to have an amazing…god, I keep using that word. I think we’re going to have, once again, an unforgettable Bonnaroo."
He was just referring to the pool of headliners from which to choose.

I'd actually really like to see Tom Petty, but I haven't seen him before.
My boss, who has worked at record stores for 35+ years, has consistently said that Tom Petty is his favorite artist of all time and put on the best live show he's ever seen (albeit, of course, in the 80s when he was much younger).
