I went last year and it was fun. Sometimes a little too much wompwompwomp going on for me, but for the most part it was cool and LCD was excellent. I'll definitely consider it barring the lineup.

I've always heard the scene is pretty dirty/shady at Camp Bisco. Any truth to this?
No more than any other festivals. I saw more nitrous, gate crashers and all around scummers at Vibes than at Bisco. I'm sure there are some shady individuals but all in all our campsite was great.

I have heard the opposite actually.
This.
Really, it depends on your perception and what you consider dirty/shady. There may be some things going on that are not deemed acceptable to some folks.... but the Bisco community is a very tight knit bunch that is looking out for the general welfare of their fellow concert goer. And the bikers that run security have ZERO tolerance for nitrous.

Eh, I like a party as much of the next guy, however late 90's Phish tour was waaaay to dirty for me. 3 consecutive shows of seeing empty syringes laying on the side of shakedown can color your opinion though.

The Camp Bisco Bible had the elaborate story on the first few pages, if I Remember correctly. Long story short it explained the beggings of camp and how now its HOME!!!!!Honestly it was a Leno ton cleaner than Roo, and the overall vibe is great I met friends I will forever keep in contact with... They actually have plans to come down to roo barring lineup and funds... First off roo weather is a nightmare.... Camp bisco if the "dirrty" your reffering too is those filthy nasty beats that get laid down at night then yes you are very accurate in your assumption... However I do understand not everyone wants to womp and that was pretty much Camp 2010 however Camp 2009 had a completely different vibe... Its home and not horrific heat to withstand just to see music we all love....The facilities were not bad at all and believe it or not i never saw any Nitro Mafia members anywhere.....The Hells Angels are the great if you can understand what a responsible festival goer is

Yeah i had heard it was a little dirty with the nitros and alike but last year i hardly saw any of it. Apparently nitros os a whole has been down around festivals, but especially at bisco from what i heard.
Worst thing i saw was a tent full of kids apparently selling paint to huff (honestly i can't tell if they really were). Just a kid standing outside a tent with a paper bag and you could kinda hear the sound of spray cans going off inside. But it was kept fairly out of the way (you had to go into the tent) and that was the worst i saw.
I never had any problems at all with anybody there and didn't hear of anything. I had heard the bikers were a little trouble but i never got any of it. I heard stories about kids with drugs (probably harder stuff) getting a little roughed up and having their shit stolen, but then again they are illegal so what can you really except. It was no worse then any other festival i've been too.
I'm pretty sure that I saw those bikers eject kids from the festival for having nitrous when I was in the search line. Like, normally they'll just take your illegal what-have-yous, throw them away (or keep them) and then let you go in. I saw them find a tank of nitrous hidden in the kids trunk where his spare tire was supposed to be, and they pulled him to the side and the bikers escorted him to somewhere but that's all I saw... looks like they took that shit pretty seriously, though.
Are there any activities besides the stages? Like ferris wheel or anything like bonnaroo? Just wondering, because I can't find a lot of info on the site.

There were a few cool art installations when I went but for the most part it's all about the music.

Yeah it's definitely much more about the music. As far as music and shows go its probably my favorite festival in the country.

They have a summer camp style color war with teams participating in different races and events. I've never participated, so I can't offer any details.
how many of you are attending this year? i bought my ticket about a month ago along with 4 of my friends. now that the lineup is out about 5 more say theyre coming too lol.

Went Last year for the first time...despite the 5 hour wait to get in (thankfully my group let some of us go in and see bands) it was amazing and close to home (nyc). we've already bought our tickets for this years. and my friend is dating someone het met there!!
Holy shit... how did I not notice a BMSR set on that lineup?! I saw Tobacco on there but I've seen him twice already but did not notice Black Moth on there... beyond stoked. Never got the chance to see them.
I'll be buying my ticket probably tomorrow, just have to make sure i get the days off first.
What time do cars start lining up?
im in CT and had like a 2 1/2 hour drive. We left home at like 6 in the morning, got there around 9. Really didn't have to wait TOO long. Maybe an hour to get in. I remember definitely being in there, tent set up and everything, by noon. We got good camping, like a 3 minute walk to the stages.
It seems to be a lot of new england people go anyway, so id say just get there early (which shouldn't be a problem if you live close) and you wont have any problems.
If i remember correctly they don't even open the place up until 9 (?, maybe 8?) so when we first got there it it seemed like they just started letting people in.
Thanks for the tips guys.. How's the police situation? A lot of checkpoints set up? I'll be coming up 81 onto 88 East.
I didn't run into much last year. Just the same as any fest, be smart, don't be doing anything stupid or unnecessary on the way down (you have all the time to eat all the corn you want over the course of the weekend, don't ruin it by starting early on the car ride down...) and you should be fine.
I've never been to Bisco, but with this line-up I will probably be heading to it this year! It seems like a ton of good shows, but not so huge like Roo... I think it'll make it more about the music and less about the scene. I'm lovin Ghostland Obs
Well the website does say they'll be available at the gate, so I'm guessing you'll be fine. I saw an interview with Barber from the band and he said they are trying to potentially get 20,000 in attendance this year, so I'm sure your fine.
