The SNL performance was awesome! Also, for anyone who hasn't seen it, they have a new music video for the single Under Cover of Darkness (don't think anyone has posted this yet)!

Casablancas also expresses some reservations about Angles, even if he's not as quick as Valensi to find the silver lining. Asked if he likes the finished album, he takes a long pause. "I mean... yes... It's a tough question because I think the whole point was that I was going to let things go so there's a bunch of stuff [on the record] I wouldn't have done."

No the fact that they seem to think the record's a bit umm shit. I'm not sure how much of that was them are hedging their bets and how much was they legitimately think the record's not that good.

Still a band giving a music publication pretty decent access in order to lower expectations doesn't really inspire confidence.
That article really was great. With all the shit Pitchfork gets, I'm sure a lot of people will skip over this article. If you're a fan of the Strokes this article is a must. It reads like an actual magazine piece instead of the usual blogger in the parent's basement atmosphere Pitchfork usually creates.

From what I've heard of the album, it's supremely solid and listenable. I'm not looking for something that's 10.0 worthy here, just something to listen to in my car all summer.
-When I Hear My Name -Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground -Blue Orchid -Passive Manipulation -Red Rain -Death Letter -My Doorbell -Hotel Yorba -Same Boy You've Always Known -Lovesick -Little Ghost -We're Going to Be Friends -The Hardest Button to Button -Black Math -The Nurse -I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself
Encore: -Ball and Biscuit -Seven Nation Army -Screwdriver
To be perfectly honest, I just usually have left the festival by Sunday afternoon. I know that's a very selfish reason, but that's my reason.
And, I just feel like everyone is so drained by Sunday night, that it would take a bit away from the energy in the crowd. I would love to see them close the Which, just not Sunday, but I'm fully prepared for that to happen.
Yeah, the thing about the Sunday Which closer is they have to be the perfect "hangover" band, so to speak. They have to be a band that isn't too wild on stage(because, like you said, people are tapped out and have little energy by then), but just sounds really fucking good after a weekend of partying. Phoenix's easygoing pop tunes were absolutely perfect for that. I feel like The Strokes could be the same way. Does that make any sense?
