God damn what a perfect live band. They need 2 hours at Bonnaroo, 1.5 hours just leaves you wanting more. They played Sprawl I for the first time ever. Not one of my favorites but still cool to hear. As awesome as Power Out--> Rebellion is, Month of May-->Rebellion to start the show is pretty great. They also did a little extended version of Ready to Start during the encore which was pretty awesome, not sure how many times they've done that.
I was really hoping for Suburban War but no dice. I'm sure they'll play it at Sunday or Monday's show since I won't be there. I'm still debating whether or not I should get tickets for one of those days on Stubhub, but unless I want to pay like $90 I'd have to get a seat instead of GA.
I'm guessing you didn't have any problems getting a camera in JHo? The "pat down" we got was pretty tame, they didn't even really search for anything.
Oh, and The National still kick a ton of ass, it's too bad they couldn't play longer than an hour. Plus they played Baby We'll be fine which was a nice surprise.
I agree with glennron, it was a fantastic show! And No probs with a camera.
I managed to get up front, second row, behind the people on the rail. I was in front of the violin players for AF but still had enough room to move around and not get squished. (I have weird anxiety issues about crowds and strangers touching me) Pictures will come soon.
My incredible moment for the evening was at the end of The National's set. Two older ladies, one blonde and one brunette, elbowed their way into the front and stood next to me for the last few songs. They were singing "Mr November" at the top of their lungs and dancing and having a grand ole time. There was an overly-excited guy on my left that was jumping up and down the whole time and singing every single word to each song. After the set was over, the blonde lady reached over to the overly-excited dude and said "I love to see people that enjoy The National. I just had to say hello to you. I'm Matt's mom".
Yes, dudes, I was standing next to Matt Beringer's MOTHER (and the brunette was his mother-in-law). She also introduced herself to me because she thought I was with super-excited dude. I told her how talented her son was and that I had come all the way from Nashville to see this show. It was really cool to see how excited his mom was to meet The National's fans.
It was interesting to see Arcade Fire in a larger venue, since I saw them at the Ryman in the fall. I enjoyed the UIC show a lot, but it made me appreciate seeing them in a smaller, more intimate venue for my first AF show.
