Meh.. thanks for the tip. But I already have my atmosphere ticket now. I like PL more overall but I've never seen atmosphere and I've seen PL 2 1/2 times, and will see him again in Aug at Identity.
Funny you say that about the congress, because on the Lolla boards and on facebook everyone goes on and on about how its such a horrible venue.
And Slightly altered... that's a really tough call, with MMJ v.s. PL. I would normally recommend MMJ over PL for sure if it weren't for the fact you saw one and not the other at Roo I'd say see half and half. Or better yet just see MMJ and find some way to do the PL after-party. Take a cab if you must.
Does anyone have any extra 3 day passes? I was waiting til my next paycheck, but they sold out. I thought I'd ask over here before I had to deal with the Lolla boards. Those guys are pricks.
Also, this is the first time each of the Big 4 has sold out, yeah?
atmosphere should put on a good set but dont expect anything great out of the others he is with. prof is alright when hes with st paul slim, blueprint is decent but nothing amazing..
nothing will ever compare to seeing atmosphere at red rocks 2 years ago so my opinion my be very bias.

The L system does run twenty four hours, depending on what line. If you are staying at a hotel downtown (Michigan Ave area) you should be fine getting too and from almost all of the after shows. If not take a taxi, $15-20 tops, and A LOT faster. Since they cut some of the late night transit service a couple years ago, you could be waiting twenty/thirty minutes for a bus/train. Not sure what taxi rynoia is taking where it cost $30. In short, take the L out to your venue take the taxi home.
I got PL/Skrillex tickets and I am stoked. However, the Congress is a horrible horrible horrible venue. The acoustics suck. It was originally built as a Theater in the 1920's (I think - it's old that's all I know) so it is not designed to carry the womp-womp or guitars. I have intentially not gone seen bands with friends just because they are playing at the Congress because of the acoustics. Only reason I am going to PL is because I missed most of his set at 'roo for Shpongle.

Yeah, sold out on us too. But I pulled the trigger on the 3 single day tickets. Costs an extra $55 but still cheaper than any of the 3 days I could find on Stubhub or other resellers. No in/out privileges but we never left once we got on site last year.
the blue line on the L which is what you'd be taking after a show at the congress and the red line which you'll take if you go to metro run all night. around 4/5 it runs every 15 minutes, but at that time of night though take a cab. you'll have drunk homeless people pissing themselves on the train.
and yes the congress sucks as a venue. it's massive, but the sound is terrible. probably the 2nd worst in the city, after the aragon.
i liked the congress, but i was also really messed up so maybe that had something to do with it.
and ive always stayed at the hotel right next to the convention center down across from solider field. and $30 is right around what we payed for a taxi. the guy could have taken us for a few extra dollars.. who knows

I'm having a tough time deciding between the two as well. As much as I would really really want to see the Foo Fighters because I've never seen them before, I have a feeling that I would sit there the whole time wondering what was happening on the other side of Grant Park.

I am so pissed about having to buy 3 single day tickets. I fucking live across the street from Grant Park and the biggest highlight of Lollapalooza is going home and back at my leisure. Fuckers.

Was craigslist out of 3 day passes? Still gotta get mine. If any inforooers want to get together during lolla let me know.
Would it be crazy to see DeadMau5 over Foo Fighters?
Foos really do nothing for me anymore. Maybe they would tap into some nostalgic appreciation I had for them though...
And Deadmau5 is supposed to be debuting his new setup. If it tops his old one, as he claims it does.. I'd really like to check it out.
Maybe half and half?
I'll be on that side of the park anyways for EITS, so I guess I'll catch a couple Foo songs for, like you said, nostalgia-sake (I saw them when I was 13 when they were touring on their first album). After that I figure I'll pop into Perry's for a bit, then go watch the Mouse's lightshow for the last half hour of his set.
I'm not overly excited about anyone playing on Sunday.

How much would you really leave anyways?
I actually got a hotel across the street thinking I could go up during breaks between sets, but looking at the schedule I really have no breaks on any day between 4-10. It's still nice to be close though so I don't have to worry about transport over when I get up in the morning.

I've left a lot the last couple years. Definitely twice a day, once to get drunk/whatever on my own supplies + eat lunch/dinner. And then a shower/change when the sun goes down. I can really get here and back from Grant Park in about 10 minutes tops not including how long I'm in my apartment. I mean its not the worst if I cant, but it was definitely one of the biggest benefits to having one of the biggest festivals in the world right in my own neighborhood.
Oh and Jay Electronica dropped off the line-up and was replaced by The Cool Kids. I'm officially completely 100% pissed the fuck off now.

SO everything now sold out except Sunday. I have my Saturday and Sunday tickets already but now I need to somehow get in on Friday. Dammit this sucks, people need to stop bumrushing festivals this year making them sell out.
And as of last night the entire weekend is now sold out. Wow.
At least MMJ Saturday shouldn't be too crowded going up against Eminem and Pretty Lights.
And having that 4th band playing at the same time as both main headliners and Perry's headliner each night should relieve some congestion. In theory at least.

I really expected some aftershows to pop up for sunday night
Even if lolla didn't make one, you'd think it would be a smart move for an independent promoter to bring a popular act into town that would draw the after-crowd.
Theres a miike snow DJ set but c'mon.. can we at least get a miike snow live set?

Did anyone see Ratatat this year at 'roo? None of the other headliners on Friday night interest me. Ratatat's recordings seem kind of boring, just looking for something new. However, I am going with my brother who has never seen Girl Talk, and you know how we say around here, it's fun the first time, but after that it's like going to da club.

So when I bought my tickets the main thing that made me decide to take the trip was the chance to see APC, and also the Kills and DFA1979 since none ever tour here.
But as we lead up to the days before the festival.. I really just can't wait to see My Morning Jacket.

I've been listening to Titus Andronicus on album and it hasn't really done much for me. But I hear people rave about their live show so I'm definitely planning to check it out
Right now we’re working on the actual technology to control all the cool stuff. Otherwise it’s just going to be a lot of expensive stuff up on a stage and everyone’s going to go, ‘Woo… But what does it do?’ And, we’ll go, ‘Well nothing, because we can’t get this fucking thing to work.’ But we’re working on it and I think we’ll figure it out.
If thats the case I think I'll be watching foo fighters
^ I think he's just blowing smoke up his own ass. It would be a major mistake on his production team's part not to have it ready for Lolla. They know that him being #6 on the lineup is a big deal and I think the only other DJ act to get one of the headlining slots has been Daft Punk.
But yeah, if it comes out that the setup is not ready, I won't be going anywhere near his show.
