This fest changed from a July 4th weekend in 2010 to August 4-7th in 2011. Their facebook page says they're in the process of booking bands for this year.
Since it's close to me, I hope the lineup is as good as last year so I can go this year. Anybody else go to this fest last year?
it was excellent. very chill, very relaxed atmosphere. good people, good music. it was (hah!) hot last year and people bitched - so stupid - it was about 80.
people also bitched about "how far" they were from the stage. I camped in almost the last row of onsite camping - it was about how far i am in VIP from the what stage. people are so wimpy
no need for VIP camping / access. showers are available. there is a grocery store across the street. that sells beer. seriously, this is a great festival.
buy tickets early to ensure you are on site. off site camping sounds like a pain in the ass.
if we decide to go, you want to camp together? id probably have a few cars with us in our group already, so the more the merrier
it's likely i'll go again since the weekend of vibes we have a wedding to attend... either nateva or a phish fest, if its local(ish).

I went last year and had a blast. Really fun. The lineup and money is what i'm depending on if I want to make it back this year. I'm definitely doing Roo and want to hit up Mountain Jam. Nateva would be a nice treat as well. Interested to see who's on the lineup.
Yeah, I knew you went idio. I figured I'd start a thread to see what others thought. I'm glad it's not 4th of July. My family always has a huge 4th of July party with fireworks, so I can never make it to other stuff on the 4th.
I definitely want to go. I'm debating just getting tickets now so they're cheaper and I don't have to deal with off site camping. I just have a hard time buying tix before I know who is on the lineup.

They were selling on-site camping tickets until pretty close to the festival so I think you should be okay this year. I'm waiting on the lineup. They were great last year but not sure who will play this year.
I went last year and had a great time. Our campsite was great; I couldn't believe how close we were to everything. We got there late on the early bird day on Thursday and were camped in some livestock stalls right next to the barn stage. (People b!tched about being in the stalls... They'd been cleaned out, plus we had some of the only shade in the place.) We could hear the main stages pretty much crystal clear from camp, which was nice to be able to chill out and drink and listen. Nearby there was water, showers, and the cleanest portopotties in the world, for real. It certainly was hotter than I was expecting from Maine; the sun was pretty crazy but it got so nice and cool at night, and apparently the level of heat was completely uncharacteristic of the area. Overall really chill and relaxing. I'm definitely waiting until I see more line-ups to make final plans for the summer but I'd really like to head back to Maine if I can.

OXFORD, Maine (March 7, 2011)– Nateva announced its preliminary lineup for the 2011 Nateva Music and Camping Festival, scheduled to take place August 4 through 7, 2011 at the Oxford Fairgrounds in Oxford, ME. Following on last year’s smashing success with over 50 bands over the course of the weekend festival, musical acts representing a wide variety of genres and influence will again grace the Nateva stages. This year the Festival again intends to present more than 50 bands on four stages, with great food, roaming performers, late night movies, late night silent disco, larger-than-life art installations, and round-the-clock entertainment.
Seasoned festival performers guarantee what will be a legendary musical experience in an intimate (for a festival) Maine setting. Old school favorites and innovative sounds come together like magic in Nateva’s 2011 line-up.
Returning artists include Ghostland Observatory, Moonalice, Keller Williams, Jackie Greene, Max Creek, The McLovins, STS9, and Maine’s own Gypsy Tailwind.
More bands will be announced as they confirm their participation. A full list of confirmed acts to date follows:

lacking in the headliners (but who isn't this year?) but a really solid lineup for such a small, intimate festival. great stuff here. Ghostland will rock the place again.
A Thieve's Parade 2/24 Conspirator 2/26 Kevin Smith 3/11 Keller 3/17 Papadosio 3/18 JJ Grey 3/25 Bela Fleck/Edgar Meyer 3/26 Toubab Krewe 3/27 O'Death 4/11 Budos Band 4/22 EOTO 4/28 Summer Camp 5/6-29 All Good
Yeah, the lack of headliners really kills it for me. I think the rest of the lineup is good though. I like things like the Bob Weir acoustic and the Chris Robinson acoustic duo with Jackie Greene. Stuff you're not going to see at other festivals. But Thievery Corp and STS9 as headliners? Eh, I was hoping for a jam headliner.
This is pretty meh IMO, which is disappointing since last year looked solid. Ghostland, Gregg Allman and the Dead side projects will be fun, as well as some others scattered throughout, but I can take it or leave it for the most part. I'm sure I'll end up going some year since it's pretty close, but it won't be 2011.

is definitely a step down from last year but i still see a lot of things i like on it. im not the biggest Thievery or STS9 fan but i would still like to go to this. all depends on funds post roo
...and the Chris Robinson acoustic duo with Jackie Greene.
This is their first live performance together. Word from some TBC boards is that there may be some awesomeness happenin'. Looks like with TBC on hiatus Chris Robinson will be busy as he already has his Brotherhood side project gearin' up fer a California tour, and he has a solo date at Delfest too. Wish I could do Nateva just fer this, but Thievery Corporation would be a lot of fun too!

My husband and I went to nateva last year and loved it!!! A few little glitches here and there, but a great venue with incredible fans Sadly we will not be able to make Nateva this year We have two 4 day tickets with full hook-up RV pass for sale. We bought them at the discounted price and are willing to sell at less than face value. Please message me for more info or to make an offer.

So just heard this got cancelled... that sucks. I dont even think i was gonna make it this yer but this could have grown into something awesome down the road.
I wonder if EFF is doing any better... Super Ball isnt going to do them any favors either
It is with a heavy heart, and a great sadness that we cancel the 2011 Nateva Music & Camping Festival. After an epic inaugural year, we have found ourselves struggling at every turn as we have tried to push forward with preparations for this summer.
The challenges in assembling our lineup of bands, a lack of certain venue permits, a very crowded summer festival schedule and slower than predicted ticket sales have all contributed to our decision to cancel Nateva this summer. In the end, it’s all about being able to put forth a first rate event that everyone can be proud of and that our customers can enjoy. We just don’t have the confidence to go forward at this time.
Refunds in the amount of the ticket face value and per-ticket fees for tickets already purchased will be processed via the credit card that you made your purchase with. You can expect to see this refund reflected on your next statement, depending upon your billing cycle. Any questions regarding refunds may be sent to info@natevafestival.com.
We are very grateful to the People of Maine, the Oxford Fairgrounds, our Customers, our Bands, and our wonderful Staff, and we just want to say, “Thank You” for all of your support. We look forward to seeing you out and about wherever there is great live music.
Sincerely,
Nateva Festival

With that lineup and the ticket prices, it wasn't worth it. It needed a legit headliner or two. JBT and Thievery are fine for second level down, or something smaller scale than what this was.

I was considering Nateva, but recently started thinking about squeezing in Red Rocks that week for FLips/Primus and MMJ/Amos Lee , then maybe on to Outside Lands > Burning Man. :-D
