I haven't stayed in the them either. Unless the location is prime, like right next to an entrance to Centeroo, I have a really tough time believing that 750 bucks is worth it.
I mean, you can buy a whole lotta gear for 750 bucks, and the setup isn't really that difficult.
You could buy 4 EZ up canopy's and a 50-100 dollar 2/4 man tent for that and still have money left over, and that's a lot of shade....
I doubt it's worth it unless you're maybe coming from out of the country and can afford it. I'd rather just buy a big tent if you're looking for something big like that and go to Tent Only asap.
If anybody is considering this please just send me 750$ and I will build you something nicer in tent only. I will provide a shaded tent plus cots and at least 1 12x12 ezup.......

Thanks for the thoughts! The only reason I was considering renting one of these is because of their close proximity to Centeroo. Plus we will be driving down from Ontario and it would be nice not to have bring all of our camping gear. Looks like we would be better off trying to rent an RV from a place near-by. In an RV we wouldn't be closer to the action, but I would definitely appreciate the air conditioning!
^^^may want to get on the RV rental asap. RV rentals typically go out within a 100 mile radius months in advance. You'll probably have to rent one from up north and drive it down.
My buddy and I did this tent rental thing last year. We're definitely not going to do it again, but that's not to say they are without some merit.
I've been to every Roo since '06. Normally we go RV-style with a dozen people but since it was only two of us last year we decided to roll as light as possible. The tent rental seemed like it was worth a try so we rolled the dice.
The girls running the tent rental were really cool and very helpful. When you arrive the tell you your pre-assigned tent number and, after a brief inspection, you sign a form saying you'll be liable for any damages. As part of the deal you get the tent, two cots, a sheet, a blanket and a lousy little pillow. When you check out they come and inspect for damage. We broke one of the cots and lost one of the blankets. They didn't seem to care and I got my full deposit back.
Pros: Awesome location.

Cons: The tent was a bit of a joke. Basically just a canvas tarp thrown over a pole with a separate (not attached to the sides of the tent) plastic tarp for a 'floor'. Fortunately the weather last year never tested the structural integrity of our Chinese made Roo chalet.
The cots sucked. Not that it matters when you get back to the tent at 6am and wake up sweating your sack off at 7 (gotta love it). But they were definitely nothing to look forward to sleeping on.
Way overpriced. I think $350 would be a bit more reasonable.
Overall what you're paying for is convenience and location. I'd rather sacrifice on the location and put that $750 toward RV expenses or otherwise buy a tent and make a mad dash for tent-only, but that's just me.
Whatever you choose to do it's Roo, and it will be glorious.
1 inexpensive coleman or wal mart tent basically the 60$ one from target should do fine.

Go to tent only and put up the two canopies, on one install tarps on three sides on the eastern side let the tarp go all the way to the ground on the other two leave about three feet clearance for airflow. Do not put the rain fly on your tent, the canopy will keep it dry and you will have improved circulation. put the shower curtain in between the two canopies for privacy. Install two more tarps on the eastern and northern side of the "living room" canopy and stake one down for the floor. It is a great design and it is easy to build on it for multiple tents and then you get a really nice camp. The one at camp infogood had 10 or so canopies and we had a really nice setup.
This costs about 400$ however all of it with the exception of the tent should last for years of festivals and camping, and it is still only slightly more than half of renting one of these. You can always go tentless and put a cot inside instead, but I do like having a tent myself. It will take you 2-3 trips to get your stuff up there but with a cart it is not that bad and at 100$ plus a trip it is pretty well worth it.

We did Tent City last year. Split the cost between 5 people, and one didn't show up - so we had 4 people in the tent. 4 is the most you can realistically sleep in there, so kinda good one person canceled.
You are definitely paying for proximity and the fact that you don't have to pack an a$$ load of gear in your car - easier to carpool and save gas as opposed to two cars.
They had a separate parking area for Tent City campers that was maybe 50 yards away from your tent. Not great, but they did provide a hand truck for you to borrow.
Bottom line, we felt it was worth it b/c we were able to make multiple trips back to camp during the day and eat or drink or whatever. If you are only two people, I'd say pass. If four people it is worth thinking about.
Ok fellow Inforoo'ers, here is my situation. We were originally going to do TO until we found out that a car rental is the same $$ for 3 of us as 3 shuttle tickets so we decided to rent a vehicle. Keep in mind we are flying from Calgary and won't arrive in Nashville until 2:30pm on Thursday the 9th. Now, I jsut found out that I'm due a good sized sum of backpay and I can afford to put up the $$ for my group of 3 for an on site tent rental. Do I like the $750 price tag? FUCK NO! But I think it would be worth it for us to be close to Centeroo, to not have to buy a bunch of shit at walmart just to leave behind, and what I believe will be a more secure area.
Couple questions, is this area more secure? If you could afford it would you do it? Other than the price is there any reason not to do it? ( Made in China is not a deterent for me, fuckin everything is made there)
Also forgot to ask about the combination locks on them, how are they? I guess by security I mean the are the tents are in as well as how well the locks work on the tents.
I've never done the tent rental so I can't help much. But we camped in Tent Only last year and Tent City was directly across from us. Here's a photo i took of it:

I've seen that thread but I'm just not sure what time we will even get in on thursday and then to have to find somebody to get our stuff, I just don't see it working for us. We do plan on stopping at a walmart already so we are getting some things. It just seems wasteful to buy a bunch of camping stuff just to leave it behind, you know? I'd prefer to leave behind only empties and brain cells.
I have to say as well that after looking at pictures the camp with these tents seems to be a step up on GA but still not as good as VIP. My main concerns at this point are, did anyone have problems getting their deposit back? (besides the already one positive testemonial on this page) It says one car per tent rental, how close? I know it closer than day parking, but how far is it? Did the combo locks work, or is it still best practice to leave basically everything in your car?
Thanks though for suggesting that thread. I think it is wonderful that people do that for each other. Part of the Bonnaroo spirit!

We did it last year. Waste of money. Upgrading to VIP this year for a couple hundred bucks extra. You will only get part of your deposit back unless the entire thing is perfectly clean when you leave. Supposedly they hit my friend hard for a "clean-up fee".

ive been trying to figure this thing out. i thought that maybe, being a short female, if i went by myself that it would be good to do this so as to not have to put up a tent by myself. however, i think for 750 i could hire a male prostitute to come and put my tent up for me and put his tent up while hes at it and have money left to spare. the price of this is confusing has hell!!!

We did an onsite RV rental last year. From that experience I would say to stay away from anything Bonnaroo had to offer that includes the word "rental". Not only will it be too expensive, it will suck and you will find nobody who can/will do anything about it's suckiness.

Yeah, but there are tons of threads around that detail how to pack your gear for a plane. It can be done.
Besides you still have to bring stuff like food and clothes. The only thing it provides is a tent and a cot with bedding right? Not even the table and chairs that's shown in the picture.
I'm with belltwala1. I could make a killing setting up peoples camps for them. I won't even charge 750.
I don't need people to set up for me. I don't want to bring the gear to set up and it is pretty unrealistic to think that you could set up sites for people who have yet to arrive at the festival grounds and expect everything to work out. Now, as I said earlier, we have to buy a bunch of crap from walmart to just leave behind which, IMO is wasteful. I do appreciate you point of view and I am aware of the helping hands thread, just trying to say that outside of the price, the on site tent rentals are a great idea.
^^Jacketman, it won't necessarily be wasteful if you have to purchase stuff and leave it behind. I'm pretty sure each year Troo asks for people to donate their leftover tents/whatnot to a local organization that gives it to the homeless.
