^Wow, as somebody who camps 6-12 times a year and attends major music events all year round I find your statement offensive.
I have gear which is to good to take to a festival and to big and bulky for a plane. As far as having other people figure it out for me, that is BS. You might as well slap that title on every person using the helping hands thread then.
You know what is pretty awesome? Not having to haul as much crap to Bonnaroo and not caring what time you get there because you get an awesomely close spot to Centeroo with a tent rental.
Well, it was supposed to be a general post about why most inforooster don't get the tent-rental thing, but go ahead and take it as a personal attack if you really feel you have to.
It's pretty hard not to considering you posted that right after the disucssion we were having about the pros and cons of tent rentals. If you think they are a waste that's great but your post was aggressive.
I rented one this year because I am flying in late thursday and I don't have knowledge or experience to set up a tent quickly or effectively. I forked up the cash so I did not have to worry about setting up a tent or hauling all the gear there, which is much harder than some of you are making it seem. It may not be the best bang for your buck but it is close and convenient for some who want to camp but cannot do it the traditional way
Last year I went by myself and did GA car camping. I lucked out big time with my location so I never experienced the crazy long walk from camp sites to Centeroo. This year I'm bringing my sister and between us we have the funds to upgrade so we were thinking either VIP and setting up our own site, or renting a two person tent in GA. After reading this thread, I'm thinking VIP is the way to go. What do you guys think? My biggest concern is location to Centeroo.

I'd def go with VIP if I were making that decision. Granted the Tent City is pretty close, but my understanding is that even the farthest out VIP area is relatively close. Personally I do Tent Only, you CAN'T get any closer to centeroo than that unless you actually sleep in centeroo the entire weekend.

Not a whole lot of activity in this thread wha?
My group of 6 are trying to decide between an RV rental, or renting cars and doing the the cot tent rental. Should we rent the tents, we were going to get the 4 cot tent for the whole group. Are you able to add in 2 additional people to sleep on the tent floor? I know you can't add additional cots.

If you are talking about renting an RV and driving it to bonnaroo, do that all the way. The rental cost for a four person tent is $1,065, which is insane. I want to say you can get an RV for not too much more than that. Then with the RV you can sleep in some A/C, and RV parking is not too bad of a walk to centeroo. If its the same as prior years its slightly closer than day parking, which is a pretty easy walk.

Doctor Doctor The $1,065 plus a $300 damage deposit is in addition to buying your GA Ticket. When you break down the numbers (assuming they'll let 6 people sleep in the tent & I doubt they'd stop you) 1,065 + $300 = $1,365/6 = $227.50 per person for the tent + $324.50 ticket + $32.75 fees + $15 (I don't remember exactly) for shipping = $599.75 per person. Still cheaper than VIP but I think postjack is right your better value would be an RV for the reasons he listed above and another one he didn't mention - most RV's have a shower.

It's a matter of your personal disposable income. Do you have the cash to cover the rental? Is it worth it to you? Do you want to avoid the hassle of setting up and breaking down camp? Who cares what anyone else thinks? I know plenty of rich people who would gladly lay out the cash to avoid the hassle. And there is nothing wrong with that. they don't have a ton of camping gear, and they don't desire to buy a bunch of stuff they won't ever use again. Maybe they don't want to rent an rv and drive it into bonnaroo. If you have money and want to avoid the hassle then by all means go for it. From all indications there is a market of such people demanding such services.
Now I wouldn't recommend that struggling people attempt such a thing. It's far too expensive for someone with very little disposable income. That's like the rent and the electric bill for some people.
