Hardly. He writes all the music but he does get input from the other "members" of the band. Not to mention that LCD is largely remember not just for great albums but for an incredible, highly energetic live show featuring an extremely large, talented group of musicians. It's not like he has random backing musicians, his main live band has been the same for most of the LCD career.

This sucks. Although, I can't wait to hear what James Murphy does next.

He mentioned in an interview recently that he was disappointed he had to pass up producing stuff to do LCD. For example, he mentioned having to pass up Arcade Fire. Murphy producing an Arcade Fire record sounds incredible.

Actually he writes and performs all the music himself. And the lineup has changed over the years.
