Alright so everyone witnessed the atrocious performance the Black Eyed Peas put on last night, and I'm not even going to get into how upset it's making me that they're seriously being speculated as a headliner. It's horribly depressing.
Near the end of the performance, it got me thinking...
Arcade Fire is ready for their chance in the spotlight. They're headlining Coachella, (reportedly) headlining Bonnaroo and sold out MSG... so...
Why not the Super Bowl? They aren't worn out or has-beens like The Who... They aren't over-produced, pop rubbish like the Black Eyed Peas.
They're one of the great live acts in the world, their music has the bravado and pump-up effect that's synonymous with football and they're at the top of their game and would open the eyes of millions to what great music truly is.

Normally, I'd kind of scoff at something like this... but considering how much the NFL ads in last year's Super Bowl highlighted their music, I think you might be onto something here...

I think it'd be the perfect way to come back from two consecutive disappointing half-time shows.
You bring in a band in their prime who has world-wide acclaim, the best show... and you win back respect.
Can you imagine Arcade Fire playing Wake Up or Rebellion or Ready To Start? Their music defines the word "anthemic" and that's usually the theme that backs the drama and mood of football.
People aren't going to leave their TV sets for the entire half-time performance. The general public is retarded, but after two half-time shows like we've seen, I doubt they'd turn their head away from the undeniable quality of Arcade Fire. They start it off with Ready to Start, then end with Sprawl II, throw in Wake Up, Rebellion or, if there's time, Keep The Car Running and it's a Phenomenal, head-turning show.
And did you notice that right when they came back from commercial last night, they played a Black Keys song? They were almost TRYING to make up for it.
I think after this year, the NFL is gonna be trying something experimental and interesting for next year's half-time show.
