Hey everyone, only a few months before the big trip and Im trying to put together enough cars leaving from Orlando for Roo. The more people the bigger the camp site...obviously. If anyone wants to join this caravan just post here or PM me and details will be coordinated. ANYONE AND EVERYONE IS WELCOME!!!

Maybe so! I'm coordinating with a friend driving down from Ohio and haven't worked out the details in terms of when we're trying to arrive.
Orlando-Manchester looks like its about 10 hours. What are people's thoughts about when you plan on heading out and arriving? It sounds like Thursday morning is supposedly the "best" time to arrive...I'm thinking of leaving as early on Wednesday morning as I can tolerate and getting a cheap hotel for Wednesday night fairly close to Manchester? Full night's sleep in a bed and take a hot shower before waking up and checking in?
We would be leaving on the 8th very early morning, around 5 am, and camping at the walmart parking lot for the night and then leaving from there for roo as early as we all decide when we get there.

Just curious -- why leaving at 5am? Wouldn't that put you in Manchester around 3-4pm? How long is the drive in your experience? Sounds like you're a pro at this...just don't want to miscalculate! Thanks!

Libby- We've driven up from Gainesville the past three years in an RV. Granted, it's a slower ride, but we only stopped for gas and it took us closer to 13 hrs. That's leaving Gville at around 1pm.
Bfree as the right idea about the walmart. We've always stayed there for the night aswell. It's a good atmosphere and it's filled with rooers that will leave to get in early in the AM. I think bfree wants to get there early because the later you get to the walmart the more packed with rvs and tents it is.
Good luck with the caravan! I'd love to join you guys but due to my gf working until 5pm on the 8th we'll be leaving right after, hopefully putting us in roo before noon thursday.

For that reason, and also that the parking lot is a huge party, the sooner you gt there the sooner you can party down lol

See these are good things for me to know! I would have never thought of pitching a tent in a Wal-Mart parking lot (how do you do that, by the way....) much less partying in one! Quickly learning that Bonnaroo is a parallel universe
I'm leaving from South Florida on Wednesday morning, if you guys are leaving Wednesday afternoon I'll be glad to caravan. I may have a few other cars coming with me from either South Florida or the Gainesville area, I'm not sure- my friends never commit.
Can anyone clue me in to where this walmart is that you stay at on Wednesday Eve. That would make my travel plans much easier. We are traveling in an RV for the first time. Thanks.

It's right off the first exit once you get to Manchester, I believe. It's a lot of fun and you can't miss it.

Hey I want to go so bad but my buddy can't get off work or something gay... tempted to get my ticket and go solo which I'm totally cool with it, but would be nice to have company for the ride... I'll drive!
i will be needing a ride/wanting to join a caravan from east of orlando (cocoa beach area), but i can definitely get to orlando wednesday morning. they also changed the date/time the campgrounds are open to wednesday at 7 PM so no hotel or walmart camping would be necessary!
As it is drawing closer to roo I will be putting together the caravan leaving from orlando. If you would like to join us this year please email me at brianjfreeman@gmail.com with your name, age, and whether you have a car with or without open seats or if you need a ride.

since they are "offically" going to let people in starting weds night, I am not sure when to leave. I have been since 2006 and it usually takes us 12 hours from fort myers. we have a caravan of 3 and would love to meet up with some other people to have a massive camp site

Im a solo photog going to cover the show, so far I have no one to ride up there with, Ive got a large tent and a backpack... maybe going by my self unless someone wants another person to ride with!
We're planning on leaving around the same time on the 8th. We're north of Orlando in the Deltona/LakeMary area. We have two cars and 7 peeps. We'd love to hook up with a caravan to get a huge campsite.
it looks like this thread was from last year. im coming from south florida and volunteering, but will not be coming back after bonnaroo so if you needed a ride for volunteering i could help as long as you have a way back.
