the Cherry Blossom festival is held in Macon, Ga every year and there is a street party on the last Saturday. I used to go every year (my hometown, don't live there now) and it was a ton of fun.
I haven't been in some 5 or so years because of either work, family happenings or some other issue.
there have always been at least 2 stages. in the past it has featured artists such as Indigo Girls, Kenny Wayne Sheppard, Days of the New, and Three Dog Night on one of the stages.
this year there is only a R&B stage and country stage but I just read where the headliners are BigBoi and Jamey Johnson, respectively.
So if anyone interested in going and wants the 411 on Macon, or wants to get together down there, let me know. I'll be with both daughters in tow (also going with me to Roo this year).
Macon has a lot of musical heritage - the Georgia Music hall of fame is a worthy stop, as is the Allman Brothers Museum at the "Big House" where they all lived in the 70s on Vineville Ave. Plus Duane Allman and Berry Oakley are buried there at Rose Hill cemetery...was just there this weekend taking pictures. Elizabeth Reed's grave is also there (immortalized in the ABB song)
