Nice little ten minute interview.
He calls picking the lineup a "fun, messy, infuriating, exciting process".
From the beginning the goal has been "how can we book the most amazing music we can imagine".
Explains "jam bands were at the heart and soul" of the beginnings of the festival. He knew the jam band fans would travel and camp at the festival. So then they built the festival around that idea. He mentions how "jam band" isn't necessarily a genre but more of an all-encompassing term for a lot of different styles of music.
Question: How would you characterize this festival? "overflowing cornucopia of musical riches".
Says Widespread and My Morning Jacket are the two bands with the most history and connection to the festival and gives a good explanation why Widespread will be playing Sunday.
LoL. I will never be able convince one of my roo buddies to stay on Sunday night.. He always leaves during WSP . fail
I'm not the biggest WSP fan in the world, but I had a great time when they headlined in 08. The Robert Randolph sit in was particularly memorable. He tour it up.
