In line for over 9 hours in 2009, about 3 hours last year same route both years arriving in line at about the same time both years (around 9 or 10 AM on Thursday). Last year would have been quicker but they were using these wireless barcode readers to read the tickets and it was taking 5 - 10 minutes to confirm the tickets were valid. For anyone interested there are some videos of traffic waiting to get in on YouTube. Watch and weep!

Does anyone have any experience with flying and taking the shuttle bus..? I know they only run Thursday, but does anyone know how early they start picking people up at the airport?
the worst things about the horrible wait last year were: 1. I missed many of the Thursday acts I wanted to see 2. going for that many hours without peeing made me worry that I was going to get a UTI. They really need some facilities along the traffic route. I'm too old to be running off and squatting in a cornfield.
^^haha....we waited like2 hrs in 08 and like 9 last year....it was so hot and i wanted to slap my wifes friend in the car...so much complaining from her

As others have mentioned, some of the horror stories you're hearing about traffic are probably from last year. I'm not sure exactly what happened last year, but in a nutshell, everything went to hell. There was some huge detour, people who were fairly close to the farm got detoured RIDICULOUSLY out of their way, and a lot of people ended up stuck in line for 8-10 hours (I think even worse for some, I don't remember exactly). So keep in mind that at least some of the horror stories you hear are the exception, not the rule.
And it'll all be worth it! For the most part the wait won't even stick in your mind at all after the fact, although I would guess those who ended up with a 10 hour plus wait might not be so quick to forget it. But if you wait four hours or something like that, you'll pretty much forget all about it as soon as you're inside.
so just so I know what is the earliest I can get there? Reading this, I am going to retool my plan. I don't want to miss any bands. I was planning on arriving at 10-11am on thursday. Also if I choose to get there early, are the "cabs" pretty easy to find in bfe?
This is the only aspect of my trip that I just can't get nailed down. I don't want to get there Wednesday night but I don't want to miss any Thursday bands. I'm coming from the South Side of Atlanta and we're thinking we'll try to arrive at like, 6am? I guess I should stop fretting about it and just know we'll have fun either way but I'm a fretter by nature and I want everything to work out!!!

Take the Bonnaroo Airport Shuttle from Nashville airport (BNA) directly to the Bonnaroo festival site.
* The ride is approximately 90 minutes, provides direct access into Bonnaroo with a convenient drop-off and pick-up location! * Please note, the shuttle will ONLY operate on Thursday, Friday and Monday (NO shuttle on Sunday). * We only sell round-trip shuttle tickets. *Thursday Shuttle Hours: 9:00am - 9:30pm An exact schedule will be posted in May. * Friday Shuttle Hours: 9:00am-3:00pm * Book flights to arrive Nashville airport (BNA) no later than 9:00pm Thursday, and no later than 2:30pm Friday. * On Monday, do not book a flight that departs Nashville airport before 9:00am. Last bus departs Bonnaroo at 1:00pm for Nashville airport.
hey guys im going to be taking the shuttle from BNA, that means i will be in the "tent only" zone correct?? and say i was i got put at its furthis point, how long would my walk to centeroo be???
So even though we are driving from Nashville airport, is it better to go around the farm and come in from another direction besides the southbound I-24?
I am a firm believer in arriving early, but mostly because I get too jittery waiting around to leave. It really is a crap shoot. I have some close friends who get there at midnight Thurs night every year (well, 4 years I think). They miss all the Thurs bands, but they've never waited more than an hour, usually drive right up to the gates, and they've always had a super close spot.

PM me and I'll give you directions to come in another way.
I have heard great things about the "back entrance", can somebody explain exactly where this is? Is this the entrance near the grizwald camps?
In 2008, I stayed in a hotel south of manchester. We got in line around 7:30am Thursday Morning (I24 North), we got to camp around 1pm I think.
In 2010, I left Memphis area at approx 1:30am Thursday Morning, stopped for gas, and ate at a waffle house at approx 5:15am (I24 Southbound), got in line at approx 6:15am, didn't get to camp until almost 3pm.
Last year sucked because they were redirecting all southbound traffic way the hell down the highway, and through the back roads.
This year: I haven't decided if I am gonna get a hotel in Murpheesboro or not, but I do intend to pile into the line at approx 4am.
This is one reason why I really wanted to do VIP. Little to no wait in line + a campsite that isn't a 30 minute walk from centeroo + toliets that flush + air conditions lounges = worth every penny that I didn't have.
This year, Bonnaroo will open Wednesday evening June 8th, 2011 to allow more time for vehicles to enter the campgrounds. The parking lot and campground will open at about 7:00 PM on Wednesday and will close around 3:00 PM on Monday. Historically, the longest delays for arriving attendees have occurred from 4:00 AM to 7:00 PM on Thursday, so consider these peak delay times when you plan your trip. Come early and get ahead of the crowd!

VIP is nothing like GA when trying to get in. We have our own entrance. To give you some idea, last year we drove right to the gate around 9:30-10 am and not a single car was ahead of us in line. 12 or so tollbooths were set up, zero car wait, that's a perk of VIP.

So effing sweet! We usually come in Thurs morning around 5-6am and only wait and hour or so.. this year we want to come in wed evening so we can recharge and get a good nights rest! This is AWESOME!
I feel really lucky... last year I got in line at 5:30 in the morning at the back entrance, and was parked and set up in camp at 7:00....
Where did they end up putting you? Do you know how the camping only area looked?
We ended up in camp Dr. Egon Spengler... about a 15 min. walk to centeroo, we had tons of room, shade from the sun in the morning due to trees on the edge, and the walk wasnt bad at all

I don't know...I wonder if this will shift the time people start lining up even earlier...but hopefully it'll alleviate some traffic.....
