My group wants to keep the good time going, and head east after bonnaroo. I mean, the ocean is only like four hours away from the farm. We're from indiana, so the beach sounds nice after four days at bonnaroo. Anybody have any suggestions of destinations or stops we can make if we just head east on monday morning?
4 hours to the ocean? How? I'm trying to put it into Google Maps and the closest ocean destination I basically see is the Savannah, Georgia area and that's about 7.5 hours or so.
There are a ton of national forests/state parks and whatnot to visit though.
Yeah, the ocean is not all that close to 'Roo. However if you decide to keep goin' regardless I suggest hittin' up the Outer Banks in NC. My first Bonnaroo I took an almost two week vacation startin' with the festival, then goin' to the Outer Banks fer a week. Probably the best vacation of my life. I really like the area. Wouldn't be super cheap though. I know we rented a beach house but had that planned a while in advance.
I could have swore that florida was only 4 or 5 hours away, I could be wrong though. we'll definetely have to check out the carolinas, and probably some parks .I hope our RV is strong enough to make it over the mountains if we get too far deep in them. thanks guys. any specific places to stop would be legit though.

I'm in Florida, and trust me it is not all that close I'm planning on 10-11 hours to get from central Florida up to Manchester. If your heart is set on Florida beaches, your nearest ones would be Pensacola, Fort Walton, or Panama City. Those are all in the panhandle, so you would be driving the entire length of Alabama to get there...but should still be a little quicker than driving out to Hilton Head (which appears to be the closest Atlantic beach) and also more convenient for driving home to Indiana afterwards.
its not the ocean but lookout mountain is pretty cool there is also cumberland caverns. fall creek falls park is close by and worth a nights stay if only for all the water falls and swimming areas. there is also some great trails to hike.
If by ocean, you mean Knoxville, then yes, the ocean is only four hours away.
But, if you're looking for a good time and don't feel like driving all the way to the coast, stop off in Asheville for a few nights, then you can cut down to Charleston, which is only four hours if you do it right from there. Both amazing cities with totally different vibes.
Personally, I'm headed to Atlanta then following phish up to Portsmouth, and I fully expect this to be the most fun week and a half of the year.
Savannah is awesome. We camped at a campground there on Tybee Island. It was amazing and super cheap. If you want to stay close there is Firey Gizzard Trail right next to Manchester. It is one of the best in TN. In the Appalachians I always have to go to Cades Cove. Those are my favorites.
Glad to know we aren't the only ones making a week and a half trip out of Bonnaroo. We're going to visit friends in Nashville after and then on the way home, if we have the time and energy, we're stopping in Louisville to tour the Waverly Hills Asylum!

OP's got a great idea. My friends and I are planning on doing the same thing. We plan on leaving Bonnaroo and heading straight east, towards OBX. After that, we're heading back up North and hitting a few Civil War battle sites on the way home.
I was born in pensacola,FL actually, and havn't been there since I was an infant, or atleast about 20 years ago...so..It'd be really nice to see it. No matter what we'll take a few days after and relax. roo takes a lot of you. idk if we will do anything over 8 hours, we might just do some appalacian mountain camping.
I hope everyone has the best roo of their lives, and some really nice R&R afterwards :] . even some of the hardest partiy animals need a rest.
