I was just wondering if anyone suffers from seasonal spring/summer allergies. I get real bad seasonal allergies back home in Colorado. But when i head out west there not so bad. I have never been to TN in the summer time and i was just wondering if anyone has a problem with seasonal allergies on the farm. I would like to make the weekend without any allergies or medicine. Medicine usually makes me tired and and anxious and sometimes sick. And my allergies get to the point where my eyes swell and i get sinus infections. Just hope this isnt a huge problem for me out there. Anyone got any feed back.

if there are medicines out there to stop you being uncomfortable, why wouldn't you take them? Not sure which ones you have tried but different ones have different effects so try a different one. I have no side effects from Zyrtec D - I know other people who just can't take it.
My allergies are way worse in TN than anywhere else I've lived and i've actually developed asthma here and need to use an inhaler. I take my regular preventative inhaler and Zyrtec D on the farm and have zero issues. To be quite honest if you suffer with allergies, the farm is not somewhere to be without medication.
Well sometimes the side effects of the medications are just as bad as the allergies for me. But some places ive been to in the summer, like the west coast, I don't need meds and have zero allergies. Just wasnt sure how TN was in the summer. I guess i will test out some new medicines before i go. It seems the ones that work make me sick and the ones that dont make me sick dont work. But thanks for the advice on the Zyrtec D i will give that a shot.

If it is too much, you could just try regular Zyrtec - sometimes the decongestant part messes with people. I feel like there are enough different ones on the market, you should be able to find one that works. When the farm is dry, there is a lot of dust also, which is not good for the allergies.
If you have the seasonal allergies they will bother you. There was only one year I left the first aid kit on my front porch and didn't realize it until our tent was set up. I ended up having to buy my sister some benedryl from the General Store. It cost me 15$ I think.
But what we have always done if the medication makes us drowsy, is take it right before you go to bed. It makes waking up a lot easier. You don't tend to wake up with that itchy puffy feeling.
My allergies are sometimes bad on the farm, really depends on the amount of dust. I too get anxious from some allergy medications but aerius works well for me without the side effects. If I'm worried about congestion leading to a sinus infection I'll take advil cold and sinus as preventative measure. My boyfriend gets chronic sinus infections and brings a prescription nasal spray that he uses to avoid the problem. If you want to go medication free you could also try a neti pot. Never tried it at roo, but I think it would be easy if you left a bottle of water out to get warm and used that.
Thanks everyone. So i guess allergies do seem to be an issue out there. Thats really helpful to know. I guess i will just come prepared with meds, nasal sprays and eye drops.
