SO this year me and my buddies have graduated college and are planning our getaway to the one and only BONNAROO. We are getting an RV and will be heading down there from NY on Wednesday night. Other than that, we are CLUELESS. Being on an RV helps in that we can kind of overpack, but other than that, what else should we remember in order to have the BEST possible time down on the farm?
what are YOUR bonnaroo/daydrinking/insomnia/survival tips?

Make sure you bring a TON of water - and drink a ton of it throughout the weekend. That will give you staying power in the heat. It can be oppressive, especially for people coming from the northern states. Other than that, my group never drinks beers/alcohol during the day. That way we can last until the wee hours of the morning for the can't-miss late night shows.
Exactly! There are pages upon pages upon pages... this board has been going for something like 7 years. But rest assured you'll find everything you'll need here.
I'm going to attempt to BUMP some older threads today that may help our board newcomers.

It only hurts those that dont (A) prepare (B)hydrate adequately (C) last but not least of all remember you not only have to make all four days but you have to make it back home to tell your tales of glory .
Don't drink anything but water is my advice last year was so dang hot I only peed like 4 times all weekend or something crazy like that. Alcohol will only dehydrate you further and make you feel more tired and lethargic..but if you do choose to "drink" stick to nighttime only while drinking water and gatorade all day.
oh and don't forget to pack some sunscreen and a good hat! no fun if you are really sunburnt either and there isn't tons of shade...I didn't read previous posts but they probably say the same thing.
It's hot, it's sunny, and it is the most fun you may ever have!
Make friends with the people camping near you - that can lead to some nice bartering and if you partake of new party favors don't wander off without a buddy from camp who will be able to tell others at camp where to find you when the sun comes up.
yeah it hurts the first year with poor planning. we did it with only a couple weeks and we suffered. the next year we came back and had an amazing setup and everything went smoothly. growing pains and all that.

Be prepared for little sleep drinks lots of fluids get shade spots when you can prepare for rain or shine bring stuff to do while waiting in line to get parked (some years the line can take 5+ hours) depending on which line bring stuff to share with your neighbors to make friends watch the amount of extracurricular substances you put into your body don't be too worried, it is not as hard core as you would think, there are sinks with water around and places to buy food for breakfast through late night.
Just have a great time and do a schedule before getting there of who you want to see, so you don't get overloaded.

can't stress this one enough, it's been my hangover cure for years so I brought it with me down to roo in 08, it's always at the top of my packing list now.....seriously it's like baby gatorade so it has none of the sugar and shit you don't need, after raging all night and waking up to 100 degree heat at 7 a.m. half a bottle will have you feeling like a million bucks in about a half hour.......generic target versions work fine too

I was a 'virgin in '09 - but I was beyond prepared for most everything after reading these boards for a few solid months. My only problem was not knowing how to pace myself for the late night shows, and how to get enough sleep when your tent is baking you alive by 7 a.m.
If you are in an RV, you're probably going to be better off than I was, but seriously, read the boards. You'll be OK.
I don't think it's been called out obviously enough in this thread, but:
BRING SHADE, the more the better.
Say this mantra over and over. The rest is pretty obvious in my opinion, and there are a ton of threads with all of the info (including Shade). But again, think SHADE.
Water, gold bond, etc are all well and good, but without shade, Roo will be a challenging experience. Just take the time to read through the FAQs about what to pack and you'll be good to go.

Definitely read the boards- they are more than helpful and everyone here will put you at ease about any nerves you may have. Bring half as much food and twice the clothes you think you'll need. Make sure you bring lots of sunscreen- even if you tan fairly well, you will most likely burn and preventing a burn will mean a happier weekend. Drink lots of water, even when you aren't thisty. if you do decide to drink during the day, alternate each drink with at least a bottle of water in between. Remember, dehydration= lack of energy, which could mean sleeping through late nights...and late nights are the best part of Roo.

Definitely BRING SHADE!!! We were in an RV our first year and it was actually hotter in the rv unless you stood under the ac. we were much more comfortable outside in swimsuits under the shade (which we had to make from our tarp). We made the mistake of thinking "we have an rv we don't need an ez up" Wrong! You aren't going to want to sit in the rv all day, that's no fun. you want to be outside watching people walk by or being social with your neighbors. Also pace yourself. My hubby drank all day friday and missed all the night shows. He said that was his biggest mistake.
