On Vanderbilt campus in Nashville, April 15-16. Bands announced are The National, Public Enemy, Matt & Kim, Kid Cudi, Sara Bareilles and Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeroes. Best part is weekend tickets are only $55 for general public or $30 for students.
Like usual they have two bands I would not mind seeing, and the rest I do not really care about. I might wander over to watch Edward Sharpe though I do like his show.
I would not mind seeing Public Enemy, my GF works at Vandy so we can get cheap tickets, or just go hang out in the courtyard close to where they are playing.
I love when this thread comes up... it brings back so many memories of 2009 RoS. Which was pretty memorable, but for all the wrong reasons. I think the only way I'd ever go to this again would be if I got free tickets. And even then, I would be sure to bring my attitude.
It just wasn't what I was expecting. I was expecting there to be people who liked music and waned to enjoy the artists; not kids that were there specifically to get drunk and hook up.
The best way I know how to describe RoS is a very large frat party. It was full of "kids" (college kids, and some high schoolers). They don't sell beer there but they let you bring your own; the kids were getting absolutely wasted and not watching the shows. I remember during the Flaming Lips there was a couple of kids literally dry humping in front of us.
I would just prepare yourself to be surrounded by drunken idiots.

Yikes...I'm not sure how I didn't see it coming but the last time I found myself at a show like that was coldplay in 2005 at riverbed in cincinnati. I had been away from college for a couple years and wasn't aware that they had taken up a throne beside DMB as the official greek life soundtrack. It became unbearable until my only hope for redemption was an early departure and a skyline chili stopoff on my way back to Kentucky. I thought a similar experience was in store for me fall 09 when I found myself surrounded by a mass of popped collars at an arctic monkeys show near the OSU campus in Columbus. Fortunately once the lights went down and the music started up these coeds showed they really knew how to get down and party at a rock show. Hopefully it cuts more that way again this time out. Thanks for the heads up all the same.
I hope so. That was two years ago; perhaps the Vandy kids have a better appreciation for music now. I should also add that it rained, which added a bit to the misery, and they wouldn't let us bring in our umbrellas.
If it does sucks, just give one of us Nashville inforoosters a shout, and we'll go somewhere in town and hang out so your trip isn't a wasted one.

I was there for this one. Really annoying crowd that was more interested in how much beer they could carry in versus any of the bands.
