I had a great time at the fest, Chicago really is an amazing city. The sound for some of the sets kinda sucked (gotta say, I thought the sound on the main stage for AnCo was a big disappointment), but one thing I loved about the fest is that the two main stages are adjacent. So, while waiting on the rail for Cut Copy and DJ Shadow I got to see and hear all of Deerhunter's and The Dismemberment Plan's set (respectively). Cut Copy's set was, to me, BY FAR the best of the weekend; in my opinion, they might be one of the best bands touring right now, period. The torch for flawlessly dancable electronic rock has been passed from LCD Soundsystem to Cut Copy. Maybe one of the top 5 or 10 shows I've ever seen.
Other highlights were the city of Chicago, James Blake (whose set was just gorgeous), Battles (who played "Atlas for the first time in a long while), Cold Cave (the biggest surprise), TV on the Radio (the best headliner AND they covered Fugazi's "Waiting Room"), Fleet Foxes (first album songs especially blew me away), Kylesa, Deerhunter, Odd Future, Woods, and Yuck.
Only disappointments were AnCo (aforementioned sound issues), The Radio Dept. (probably one of the top 3 most boring live acts I've ever seen), and Ariel Pink (who stormed off the stage in a tantrum, screaming at his bandmate, well before their set was finished and before playing "Round and Round"; even the band members were confused by what just took place, but he seemed pretty wasted).
All in all, I had a great time in Chicago, and a crazy way to end my trip running into 3/5 of MMJ at O'Hare.

Damn. If I would've known you were going to be there, I would've tried to meet up.

I unfortunately had to sell my tickets because I'm out in California dog/house sitting, but watched as much of the webcast as possible. Definite highlight was Fleet Foxes. It was really, really good and made me sad for missing it. I was on the phone part of the time for them and tried to stay near my laptop as much as possible so that I could listen in. Pitchfork is my main music site and I find out about lots of new bands from them, so the lineup is tailored to what I love. Hopefully next year, and congrats to all who got to experience it!
