Maybe I'm just showing my age here but is anyone else excited about The Cars releasing a new album after 25 years or so. I "came of age" during the New Wave era and have always been a huge fan. And they were amazing in concert back in the day.
I never thought they'd get back together as Rick Ocasek never wanted to do the Reunion tour things. But he's always been a prolific songwriter (massive understatement) and he figured why not try out some stuff he had sitting around and wanted to record.
I know this is not likely a Cars crowd but, hey, I'm psyched.
Here's the first video from the album (sorry I don't know how to get rid of the advertisement.) Kind of a retro, Panorama-esque thing.
Unfortunately Rick says he's not keen on touring, has to play too much older stuff but they may do a few shows. Rumors are Lollapalooza , Coachella, maybe. Roo would be too cool but I'm not holding my breath.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
I went and saw the "New Cars" With Rundgren, and that was a good show. I am interested to see what they are up to these days.
I was there too (at the Wildhorse.) Pretty good show for a decent price. I love Rundgren but it would be cool to see Ocasek again.
Really I just hope the album has some merit. Be nice to hear the old sound without being dated. Ocasek has the talent to potentially pull it off but you never know.
