We had an idea a couple of years ago that I've been wanting to get off the ground. It would be an Inforoo swap meet of sorts. A common situation at festivals that many come across is having extra of some items and the need for other items. Let's say for instance I've got all this extra beer, but what I really need is cigs. Or maybe I've got a long way to travel home and I don't want to bring back these open liquor bottles.
A Sunday morning Inforoo swap meet might be cool to organize. Everybody brings their overstock of what they have over to Camp Inforoo in hopes of swapping for some things they need for the last day.
It'd be nice to see everyone together again and if you don't have items, I'm sure you've got stories to swap!
Good idea, but I do see one issue. What happens when people bring their extra stuff to swap at camp Inforoo swap meet. they leave the stuff there thinking someone else might needed it, but what happens when nobody takes the stuff and camp Inforoo is left with a pile of stuff that is not theirs and nobody to claim it?

I'm up for it and I promise I'll only bring what WE dont drunk hickup. Any "extras " that people are willing to trade I'm willing to give an opened beer oh UNopened beer for.
^^you say 18, but I think you mean the 3 other people who are standing up and saying you are wrong by asking you to take your race vs joke discussion somewhere else. I ask about your latest sarcastic comments "destroyed such a pearl" "glad to see this thread doing so well", is that your way of insulting all of us? Some random people tell you you are wrong and to prove your point you try to insult them? You win dude.
Man you have a lot of negative energy, you should get that checked out.
you make the assumption that i need your validation, or that, you as an onlooker hold sway over the "outcome" of deciding some victor in the prior debate. like I am supposed to placate your delicate sensibilities regarding internet civility in hopes of you backing my position? if my comments have insulted anyone, it is because they take the internet and/or themselves far too seriously.
but i get it, the counsel has spoken and determined that due to my non-PLUR unheady vibes that it is worth promoting your hypocrisy over thread derailing if someone continues to use a dead-end husk of a thread as their soapbox. there is an ignore function in this forum, and I hope that you use it if you truly feel that i have nothing to offer this website; or that I can be a menace to your psyche ( that would be a pretty negative thing to do though).
So lets see if this is a big enough deal for a response. I do not want to be a disservice, or slight anyone, by not giving this very serious issue my respect and time. It is obviously a huge deal and I have been making light of it. no more.... I'm putting my game face on so that together we can find a solution to getting this thread back on track and bask in its unabated glory. these are serious issues... fuck libya, fuck japan, fuck the economy, we all need to take some time to address the very serious issue that is plaguing us all: allocating proper binary/hex code into arbitrary boundaries so as to not upset para-personal communication and civility.

sounds like someone needs to trade their soapbox for some ability to stay on track...not racism, not who hasn't the right to not be offended, not libya, not japan...valuable trading items...see it says it right in the title way up there ^^^^^^^ it's not who's insulted, it's who's tired of looking at your bs rant that your statement wasn't racist. If it walks like a duck, flies like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it ain't a turkey bro'. Even to give you the benefit of the doubt that you are not personally a bigot, to make bigoted statements is to put on that mantle. Now, who has some garlic grilled cheese sammies i can trade some corn for?

The offer for a PM discussion stands. I am sorry if you rather make public spectacle or have some need to "air this out here out of principle" (whatever principal that is) than talk this out like two people. Although I strongly disagree with much of what you say, I am willing to talk about it so we can have a greater understanding of these ideas. Hell, maybe we can both learn something.

FWIW his initial statement wasn't really a big deal. People here are pretty sensitive in general. There's a lot of stuff to get worked up about and getting worked up for much of anything on a board about arguably the best week of the year seems tiresome.
I would say there is a lot of good commonly traded suggestions here but if you really want to create value you need uniqueness. Trade that unique thing for money and then buy what you want. Let me give a couple of examples:
1. I saw a guy buy a really old Grateful Dead shirt off of the back of the guy in front of me for $100. For all I now it was a deal, people collect that stuff, my point is that there were likely very few of those shirts at Roo and therefore command a high price.
2. I watched a guy almost ten years ago paint this picture -
If I wasn't about as broke as I had ever been in my life I would have easily emptied my wallet. This guy is obviously talented and can command some hefty price tags. That night I watched him turn down $1000 cash to multiple people. The original is still for sale by the way, I just sent an email asking for the price. What is your unique special skill?
3. Cool jewelry. Last year my wife had people make offers on her hat and multiple necklaces every day. She bought the stuff for nothing, she just thought it was cool and so did other people.
You can compete against everyone in the commodity market or be unique. In my experience the unique market is easier.
Funky, I hear what you are saying about turning your unique skill or talent into money and then buy what you want. If you can do that, than do it, but I ask, Why not gift your uniqueness to others? What I mean is, I do not go to festival and experiences like Roo to make money. I will be gifting some cool visual stimulation around camp(that is vague I know, but I like surprises, so I am sticking with vague for now), A couple of mornings I will be cooking Bacon, plenty of bacon for me and others around. I will be bring jello shots and gifting them to others. I did this last year and it was amazing how people wanted to know, what the "catch" was. People were like, "how much are they?" "they are free, jello shots, you want one?" "I will buy one for a dollar." "They are free." I have some frozen treats and other surprises and I do this without expecting anything in return. I know I will receive gifts from others, so it will be returned in that aspect, but I have no idea what that return will be and I do not want to know. I like surprises. Somethings I will bring to trade, like Cigarettes. I will trade those for something for my entertainment(aka Dance Monkey Dance, Make Bryan Laugh, "what would you do for a cigarette?"). I know the power they have and what people will do for one. Maybe, just maybe, I can get one person to think, I just did a belly flop into a mud puddle for a cigarette. Do I really needs these? and get them to think about quitting and I get entertain in the process. Like I said before, I do not come to Roo and hope to make money. Somethings I will trade, but I like the expression and uniqueness of someone getting something good, for free, and unexpected, because that is priceless.

I don't sell anything at festivals either, I'm a spender and a giver even more than a trader. But not everybody's in the same boat. I love the dance monkey dance for a smoke. That does have to make you think a bit about how much of a slave to nicotine you are. I got a reply back from the artist of that picture, a little out of my price range for the original -
Hi Malcolm,
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. We appreciate your interest in Scramble Campbell Artwork. This was one heck of a show at Suwannee! I have seen this original and I must say the photo posted on the sight does not do justice to the original. Were you at this show? Did you see it being created?
The Original is autographed by the entire band and is priced at $8,000. Payment plans of up to two years are available if you care to purchase this art on our “layaway” program.
The Giclee Prints on canvas of this piece are available from a limited series of 50 prints. These reproductions look fantastic! Especially when embellished by Scramble. It is rare that reproductions are made in the exact same size as the original, but this piece is an exception. Both the original and the Giclee Prints are sized at 24” X 36”. The limited Giclee Print on canvas is offered at a price of $450. The embellishment by Scramble (Over-painting the printed canvas to add texture and highlights) is available for an additional $200, and makes the Prints nearly indistinguishable from the original Artwork . So for $650, you can have a print that is embellished. The Giclee Print Series are produced as ordered, so estimated delivery time is approximately two weeks to allow for printing and embellishing. I spoke with Scramble this morning and he said he could have this particular piece printed framed and embellished by the end of next week if you would like the Artwork soon.
Please let me know if you have any “furthur” questions regarding this piece as an original or limited print or would like to place your order. We usually use PayPal for online processing. Let us help you get more Scramble Campbell on your walls!
