This is going to be my first Roo and since I don't have a tent to bring, I could use some help in finding one. Specifically I'm looking for a large tent for 4 people that can stand up to the Bonnaroo elements (especailly rain) that's under $200.
Anyone have a large tent they've liked and used at Bonnaroo before?
If you go with a tent, get one that has plenty of zip down windows to let in air at night and in the morning. The more, the better. We usually sleep in our tent for a few hours, then lay something down under the EZUp when it the sun comes up and it gets too hot to sleep in there.
I bought a tent a few years back from the Eureka outlet and have zero regrets. The tents are refurbished or returned tents. They categorize them by their condition to help minimize any surprises. Hope this helps.
After MUCH research and indecision I purchased the Eureka N!Ergy 1210 today. It's dome shaped which will be optimal if it's windy, and the rain fly comes down lower than a lot of tents that I have seen while still getting good reviews for ventilation. My first choice would have been a super large cabin tent, however, I will be 14hrs from home on a farm and I really don't want my house blowing away while I am there! Good luck on your search for the perfect tent; I know first-hand what a tough choice it can be.
I bought a Kelty 2 man Gunnison a few years ago. It's been through alot of camping as well as 3 Bonnaroos.
I noticed that Target is carrying Kelty brand and have a tent, Zenith[/z], that looks kust like my Gunnison and at $60, half the cost. I'm curious to find out if anyone has this and how well it works.
Went to a Dicks sporting good and bought a Coleman Lakeside tent which holds about 8 people 3 people sleep in it with 2 queen mattresses with plenty of room for the third person. Held up well against all rains even in the 09 tornado force wind/rains. I spent $65 plus bought a Ez-UP and couldnt br happier i the quality. These are two must haves, hands down.

Smoker...
Save an extra $150...buy a cheap tent and a VIP ticket. I did the on-site tent rental last year, trust me the extra $100 for a ticket and $50 or so for a tent is more than worth it.
I've got a question and I don't want to post another thread for it...I've been lurking on here for about 2 years, haha, and just now created an account.
BUT my first roo was in 2009 and this year will be my second...I am considering doing without a tent and just going for the E-Z up and a cot approach.
What are the ups and downs to this? ...I'll be bringing tarps and tapestries for walls on all four sides for shade. Any info from those who have considered it and backed out (Why?) and any info from those that have done the e-z up and cot combo who enjoy it more (Why?). Thanks guys! (and girls).

I have the four man Target Kelty Tent and I really like it. It's dropped in price drastically since I bought it. I scotchguarded mine heavily and it works great. I love having the foyer to keep my shoes dry, but out of the tent. It's really easy to set up and just enough room for my queen sized air mattress. I just wish they made a ground cloth for it.

Last year was my first roo, and definitely more to follow, but I lucked out and got a 7 person tent for $30, I also brought a 4 person tent (which my girlfriends roomate used since she didnt bring one). One thing I didn't bring last year was a canopy (thankfully my buddy brought a cheap $10 canopy, better than nothing, but we fought with it most of roo). The 7person tent was great just because it had huge windows, but the smaller one was like a small oven in the morning. Just glad we had awesome neighbors, they had extra tarps and just made a huge tunnel over everything. This year we opted for VIP tix and canopies (yes multiple and lots of tarps, sheets, tapastries) I'm bringing the 7 person tent, 10x20' canopy, a 'monkeyhut', power inverter for larger fans and well I dont really plan on leaving Bonnaroo.
