I'm curious if anyone has every Greyhounded it into Manchester. Some friends of mine are making the trek in from Arizona and we thought this could be a fun option. It says there is a station IN Manchester and I was curious how far away that station is from the Roo grounds. Any information is appreciated.
From my experiences, Greyhound can be absolutely BRUTAL. I took Greyhound home from Rothbury a few years ago, and the total trip took me 24 hours and 6 transfers. It was one of the worst experiences I ever had traveling.
If it's your only option, go for it. It will be worth it when you get to the farm. I'd continue looking for rides here or wherever you can though.
It can be done... however, I would hardly describe it as a "fun" option. I've done a cross-country Greyhound trip before, and like aruabear said, it is pretty brutal. There's definitely a good reason why it doesn't cost as much as a plane or a train. The Greyhound station is a couple miles from the farm, which might not seem like much until you consider all the gear you're bringing. I hear there are usually some locals offering rides to the gates at a price, but personally that seems a little bit sketchy to me.
I would highly recommend NOT doing it. Last year I did it from PA all the way to Manchester. Normal driving takes around 14-16 hours. It took us 36 hours to get home, a driver verbally abused the passengers challenging them to say something(a little mean black woman), no leg room, the walk to the farm is super long and hot in the sun, you don't have a guaranteed seat on your connection, which is quacked up when your bus arrives late and you have to wait 6 hours for another bus. Plus who wants to do that walk after a long bus trip? People offer rides but they can only take you so far(not even a mile) before you have to walk because they can't drive up to the gates. Use greyhound as a last resort

I also took the Greyhound last year. It would normally take 10 hours from Davenport Ia. It took 17, which wouldn't have been horrible since I just sleep and read when I'm in the car anyway. The problem was coming back I had to sit next to some dude that "fell asleep" on me and I woke up with his hand up my dress. So if it's your only option Bonnaroo is still worth it, but go with a friend or someone you know at least a little.
It looks like I'm Greyhounding it again this year so if anyone would like to ride with me from Des Moines or surrounding area, or carpool with me that would be greatly appreciated!
Any of you that decide to do this be sure and check out the Helping Hands thread. It's where people volunteer to help you out with water, gear, etc that is hard to bring on a bus/plane/whatever.

lol, last year this wasted Irish guy comes stumbling onto the bus and I'm thinking, "please don't sit by me, please don't sit by me" And of course, he does. He kept passing out onto my shoulder during the ride, I probably woke him up around 10 times to get off me...
