why does bonnaroo do this to me? the under card is always amazing but i can guarantee the first 3 names they put as their headliners are mediocre. Eminem: OK at best; #1 spot? ...alright maybe but it is the 10th anniversary Arcade Fire: Only good album was funeral. I will stick around to hear wake up and then move on WSP: Good band, but not exactly excited to see them
Finally we have the black keys; a band that i actually want to see. I am disappointed that i have to read through 3 names to get to a decent band. I mean 10th anniversary, commmonnnn
Bonnaroo's always like that, though. The only headliners in its history that I would have been truly excited for are Radiohead and Neil Young & Crazy Horse. '09 had Bruce and Phish, though - both of whom have a dedicated following, but I'm not particularly into either one myself. My first year was '08, and I was kind of disappointed when the lineup came out, because it lacked a must-see name in the top line like the past two years each had with The White Stripes and Radiohead. But I went, and all three headliner shows turned out to be fantastic that year, and I had the time of my life. Don't let a weak top line dissuade you - we may not have gotten a huge act like McCartney/Bowie/Stones/Radiohead/Daft Punk/Waters/Clapton/etc. heading the bill, but we got something that was consistently good from top to bottom.
Oh, and by the way... if you're planning to just stick around until you hear "Wake Up", then you're planning to stick around for their entire set, because they will either close with that song or (more likely) play it during the encore.

Eminem could be interesting. I recently downloaded Suburbs and think its an amazing album, so I'm really pumped for Arcade Fire now. Don't really know WSP, but I'm not going to judge.
Am I super excited for all the headliners this year? Heck no! I doubt anybody is. They have a different formula this year, and I can't fault Superfly for it. They grabbed the top indie rock act (Arcade Fire), a legendary classic rock band (Buffalo Springfield), 2 of the 3 most popular hip-hop artists (Eminem and Lil Wayne), and the most popular jamband from the south (WSP). Chances are, you're gonna be a fan of atleast one of those genres. More than likely though, you won't like all of them. If you hate all of them, then stay at home. I have a feeling they are gonna have a diverse crowd, with lots of first timers, and thats a good thing in my eyes.
Also, some of the big headliners they've got in the past have been dreadful (ex. The Police, Kanye West). So maybe its better they get solid bands who tour regularly, rather than the big name who doesn't give a leno. And its not like Bonnaroo can magically make the members of Pink Floyd or Led Zeppelin not hate each other, ya know?
I'm not a huge Arcade Fire fan but the stuff I've heard I like. My friend is a lot more into them than me and that's what this is all about. It's a chance to see new music or music you might not choose to see outside of a festival setting (which in my case would be Eminem. Don't hate him, just wouldn't pay to see an arena show).
I've said it all over this board but MUMFORD & SONS AHHH. I'm just a little upset MGMT isn't coming back.
Get real. Never been more excited for a show ever than Eminem @ Bonnaroo, arcade fire will be one of the best live shows i ever see, and hell Im even happy for all the WSP fans that they are getting their fair due from the festival
