I just read this. Looks like Long Island is going to try another festival. This is on an indian reservation, so I think it may make things easier to push this through. Traffic will be a pain just because high volume wasn't meant to go through there. This is worth keeping an eye on.
And I thought Bonnaroo was stupidly overpriced...More like "Escape to the Hamptons" with those prices. Better pack your J. Crew chinos and Gucci rain boots. They're going to have a rough go of it beating out Gathering of the Vibes, which is only 2 hours away.
Really it sounds like the promoters have no idea what the American Festival Circuit is like. My guess? One and done.

Yeah right. Festival traffic going across the Shinnecock Canal. There's a total of two bridges with a total three lanes east bound. I guarantee that the Hamptons cops will keep all access to CR 80 blocked and make everyone take Sunrise making it two lanes. I suggest staying at home anb piercing your nipples with rusty nails instead. It'll be half as torturous and save you money.

I don't think they are trying to compete with Vibes......we don't even know the type of music this fest will have.
Vibes will be its de facto competitor unless this fest comes up with a killer advertising campaign to target people who don't pay attention to the festival circuit.
Further and Costello are huge draws from the area. Unless the festival stacks the lineup to look like Lolla or Pitchfork (Doubtful) I don't see it being different or worth the cost. You have to keep in mind NYC is right down the road and gets all the national acts without having to go to some glamping festival.

Even the one day passes or not worth it. Basically people are playing for the location and not the music. This is what the locals to the area (I used to be one) call Hampton inflation. The same goes for the MTK fest in East Hampton around that same time.
But make sure you stay in NYC where once you have a place to stay, you can do pretty much ANYTHING 24 hours a day, and a lot of times for free if you do it right
OR, if you WANT the Hamptons, then go to the HAMPTONS! Party ON!
The first bar I ever bought a beer in underage was the Neptune Beach Club. My big brother went way out of his way to sneak me in that day. Once I was in? Carte Blanche ;D
Then later he tried to get me into the Boardy Barn, but that didn't work out so well Incidentally, he met his wife at the Boardy Barn
In any case, don't touch this Shinnecock thing with a ten foot pole is what I think.
My opinion, it is going to be a place for spoiled kids to go on a DrugBinge on daddy's dime, while "glamping" as 6 or 7 bands play each day on the Shinnecock Nation grounds.
It is going to be the Electric Forrest for the really rich kids.

I'm seriously considering volunteering for this. No, the lineup is not that wonderful, but there's a couple acts I'd be up for seeing, and mainly I find the entire concept of the festival to be much more exciting than the lineup.

The final day of the Escape to New York music festival had to be called off Sunday following an overnight drenching of the festival grounds, owned by the Shinnecock Indians, on Long Island.
Scheduled to play Sunday were Of Montreal, Mates of State and Tiger Love. Refunds were given and organizers are already gearing up for next year. "With amazing reviews and a close to capacity crowd on Saturday, Escape to New York looks forward to returning next year," they said in a statement.
