As a first year goer to the Roo, and also a lazy college student who doesn't feel like searching for the answer himself, how easy is it to drive out of the campgrounds and re-enter from general admission? I keep reading that the VIP can get out pretty easy with their cars, but haven't noticed anyone say anything about GA. Enlighten me!

You can't really take your car out of GA during the fest and bring it back. If you were to try to do so you would most likely have to get people to move their tents.
I you have to leave with your car and come back during the fest you'll probably have to do day parking
When I did VIP in 2007, my neighbor parked but left daily as he was staying at a hotel. They came in an and out without issue. of course, I can't be sure that would happen 4 years ;ater.

i could totally be wrong but isn't that what day parking is for?? theres really no reason what so ever to leave, pack smart and come prepared and you wont want to leave ever...
Yeah, if you plan on leaving and coming back because you're staying somewhere offsite, just use day parking. It's a bit of a hassle to get in the first day, since you're in line with everyone else, but coming and going on the other days isn't too bad. If you're camping onsite but might need to leave early or something, just let the parking people know. They're usually pretty reasonable and there's a good chance they'll try to get you parked in a place where you can leave easily. From their view, it's better to put someone in a place that won't cause trouble because they have to get out mid-festival.
