So tell me, what sort of head-wear will everyone be sporting this year? I'll probably be rocking the traditional bandanna, but I also just scored a fez that will make it's debut.

Arlene's got a wide brimmed hat that I bought for in center roo ,and I've got my Lake Placid orda(Olympic Regonal Development Association) DR Hunter S Tompson styled hat.
Best purchase I ever made at Roo was a straw hat. It's light and airy and gives you shade. Those Tennessee farmers have it right! My Honey just picked one up online for this year cuz she learned last year that it's the best way to go and it's fashionable enough that she'll wear it.
i always just wore a baseball hat but thinkin of getting a straw one or something similar for this year...the sun was pretty brutal at certain points last year
last year i was most comfortable when i soaked a bandana in cold water and either tied it around my head or just draped it over my head and used my sunglasses to keep it on. pair that with a cold-soakin bandana tied around my neck and i was good to go..... until the sun dried up my bandanas of course
my dad did just give me an AWESOME straw hat though, so that will probably have to make it's debut this year
I've worn the same tan "boonie" hat to every Roo. Unfortunately it finally fell apart last year. Still looking for a suitable replacement to my dear old friend.
Not a hat person generally but last year was so quacking hot i gave in. Needed a little shade. Picked up a nice 'straw' weave hat with vents and flex brim 19.95 E4hats vr004sh-string : Vented Tea Stained Raffia Hat-String. Also hit a sale on Miracool Bandannas. These are approx 1 1'2 " wide. soak for 10-20 minutes in cold water and they stay cold for a day or so. IndustrialSafetygear.com. Have been testing these out and so far pretty D* good. sorry .. too late for links.)

The key to any headwear you decide to wear that you make/is not typical summer wear/attracts attention (etc. etc.) is to GET USED TO IT in advance. Try it on. Wear it outside in the heat. See if you can handle it. I tell everyone, wearing viking horns the entire time on the farm is VERY difficult. Especially from 12-4 in the afternoon.

I was born without the top of my skull. A little bit of my brains was showing, grossing everybody out. So my mom put this wig on me to cover it up... I guess I'll be wearing this, then.
I typically wear one of these.. usually by Saturday/sunday... they are great for keeping you hair out of your face when you are sweaty and they are very comfortable.. plus they look WAY better on then on the website!
