Rushing the cops would be a horrible idea. Because A) You would get arrested. B) Get kicked out of the festival. Or depending how threatened the police were, banned. C) Would not benefit your protest in any way and would support the use of police force. Someone on the board suggested disrobing all at once, that would be waaay more effective to protest the police. It's peaceful and you don't come off as a crazy mob. That being said, would I do this for a tripped out guy in a wizard costume? No.
Although I quoted you walls, my post was meant for many others. As a socitey we are funny, we complain(being arrested 4 times, I know I have) about the cops and how we do not like them, but when we need one and they are not around, boy do we get upset.
Well I talk a mad game about cops and my dislike, but the second I get pulled over my heart drops through my stomach and I become like a child to a parent. I've gotten pulled over and been drunk and they let me go, there are some good cops out there.
Ok so here is my theory and I am not saying it is a good one. People who dont like cops are most of the people that do stuff that they shouldn't be doing in the first place usually because it is illegal or unwilling to accept that they did something wrong. People that are willing to accept what they did usually do not have a problem with cops.
Yes maybe some people may have been wronged by cops either rightful or not but this is not a reflection on all cops. Do you hate the cop that caught the guy who shot your grandpa or hate the cop who got the guy that broke into your house and took your big screen tv and watches? Yes some cops are jerks and may have treated you poorly but the same can be said about teachers, accountants, bank tellers, or any other profession. Some people will be jerks and some people will be nice, and some people will do their job in accordance of the law and if you cant live by the standards that this great country has set forth then you also should not get the freedoms that this great country allows us to have.
If 20 people rushed the cops, they would all be charged with inciting a riot (Because that is what they are doing.) All of them would be apprehended, and beaten severely, then thrown in jail with no bail due to being a flight risk. They'd receive an extended trial date and sit in said jail for a week before even being put in front of a judge. Then their public defender (cause lets be real here) would pressure them to put a plea bargain for assault against a police officer (felony) and have them serve a 3-6 month jail sentence, plus a steep fine. At no point would they would receive condoms.
And you know what? I'd be ok with that. These are cops who will let you strike a jay and look the other way. And you're getting mad at them (and threatening physical violence) for apprehending a drugged up, disorderly wookie? Get real and grow up. You wouldn't want that guy touching you either.
Personally, I'd help the cops kick your ass. Don't like society? Then vote with your feet because I guarantee that the vast majority of you trying to protest the inability to shed clothing anytime you want, regardless of society's opinion, don't own meaningful property anyways. Adios.
(Though in all fairness, this guy was definitely not going to slap anyone with that pecker.)

I'm not sure it is possible to be rightfully wronged by the cops.
Regardless it's like any other profession. There are douchebags and there are good cops. Unfortunately running into a bad cop is alot worse than running into a shitty garbage man.
I think it's sad how many people nowadays are so in love with authority. ???
I think it's sad that I'm not the internet badazz you are. I guess I just love big brother. I'm sorry I've soured the emotions of a politically enlightened genius like yourself.
You do realize that your response makes you sound like you have zero tolerance for dissidence. According to history, that's not a good thing.
Also, everyone feel free to get nude at Roo.

Some of you guys are being ridiculous. The fact is, if there are cops at Coachella, then you need to obey the law, or at least appear to be obeying the law. Unfortunately for some people, that means that you can't just get naked wherever you want to. I'm all about freedom and if everyone wants to get together and go somewhere where it's allowed and just be naked all over the place, good for you.
However, you know what you can't do? Show up at a festival, in which purchasing your ticket and showing up means agreeing to their rules, and then break them. If you do that, such as the gentleman in the video did, you may face police action. The fact is that these cops tried very hard to get this guy to put his clothes back on. They tried every peaceful way possible. Now, I think what they should have done was just handcuffed him and took him out of there (the tasing was a little much). But you people saying that the crowd should have rushed the cops are thinking stupidly. The only thing that would do is get riot squads called into Coachella, have a large amount of people be ejected with the festival with citations, and ruin everyones weekend. I understand that everyone wants to have fun and be free but it's not the summer of love anymore and people can't just do whatever the fuck they want and then feel violated when they face consequences. If you want to get naked to make a statement, good for you, but you can't be outraged when you inevitably get fucked by the police.

Regarding the naked wizard: If the cops tell you to do something, in your hometown, at coachella, or at bonnaroo the best course of action is to do it.
Synopsis of the vid: Cops: Put your clothes on Wizard: No Cops: Seriously, put your clothes on Wizard: No Cops: OK, we'll put your clothes on you at the station Wizard: I shall resist! Cops: Sorry dude, your resistance is futile Wizard: (@2:49 in the video I just watched) Then I will reach for your nuts/gunbelt Cops: No, sorry, now you get tazed.
I mean really people. 1. Do as they say. 2. Do not resist. 3. DO NOT REACH FOR A COPS NUTS OR GUNBELT EVER!!!!
