Here is a small (800 watt) generator that will run your fans, lights, radios and chargers. And with a weight of around 30 pounds. Northern tools is asking $399.00 for this, cheeper then a honda or yamaha.
Typically what adds to the cost of a generator is silence. There may be a few more bells and whistles in the more expensive generators but for the most part the money goes towards noise dampening features. Some of these small units can be mighty noisy, not something you might want to impose on your neighbors.
i saw a commercial for the honda generators that are supposed to be around 55 db. they are ungodly expensive however there are places that will rent for 135 for the week. if i could hide it between cars and make some kind of muffle it probably won't bother people too much. esp since i only really need it in the morning for the sun
edit : with the impending cicada swarm coming the generator noise may be the least of our problems
I don't know anything about the Aldi's in Germany, but it is the same company and it is very cool, so my money is on "yes, they are as cool as the ones in Germany"
I love Aldi so very much. You might say I preach to others about Aldi and how wonderful it is. They have everything you need and nothing you don't and enough variety in the seasonal stuff to keep you from getting bored shopping there. I plan to swing by there tonight and score some of those chairs. Was thinking about the generator (totally thought this thread would be a link to it) but I'm not sure if it would power a small a/c unit.
