This documentary seeks to incorporate the experiences of many Bonnaroo attendees. By creating an online community through social networking forums we have been able to involve people like you who are interested in helping us break the traditional boundaries of documentary film making.
We hope this film will paint a picture of the varied experiences at Bonnaroo, so that people who have not yet been to Bonnaroo or a music festival of it’s nature will be able to catch a glimpse of what really goes on BEHIND THE ROO.

im willing to help out and all but we all need to be careful with how we let them use what we shoot and give over to them. if you are sending them video dont put the shit on the internet because then its free domain especially if its on youtube
I really don't like that the first thing they say about getting involved is to buy a $12 tank. And I don't think this type of festy film is "breaking new ground". Call me a skeptic.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.

would love to see some of the filmmaker's credentials/other work before i support something like this and especially before i'm instructed to buy a shirt and tell my friends about it.
also, equally as important as bonnaroo agreeing to let them film on the farm is getting the artists to sign off on it. it can be ridiculously hard to get larger performing artists to agree release their image/creative material, especially if they try to do it after the fact. that's why they want fan-submitted video because it could possibly create an extenuating circumstance wherein the material would be "fair use" and not a copyright violation.
a project like this sounds amazing, i would just like to know it's in the proper hands before i invest my time and money in it. good luck with it and everyone think carefully before you give them your roo funds.

Good point!
If they plan on entering this in film festivals or making any sort of profit off of it, they could be looking at all sorts of legal actions against them. If you notice on the back of your Roo ticket. You agree to have your likeness on any footage the people at Roo might capture of you. There is a reason for that.
That being said. It sounds like a cool project.

Regardless of intent (which is clearly questionable) I just hope they limit the context of the documentary to positive aspects of Roo and don't focus on the cornbread. God knows the last thing we need is more oversight.
We are also encouraging everyone who is filming to buy a tank, and convince your friends to get one too. Michael (director) and I will be wearing them, as well as all of our friends on the drive, and we think it would be awesome if we could show clips from a bunch of different cars with people wearing 'Behind the Roo' tanks.
i will not be buying a tank top i can tell you that

I had a small company approach me last year about doing a documentary about my life here at home days before going and the transformation of becoming Madman Pondo at Bonnaroo. Their project got shot down pretty quickly by Bonnaroo and thus got scrapped. They tried so many different ways to get this project off the ground.
Not saying this is not legit, but some proof would be great.
I would say to the creators of this venture to A. Show the proper documentation needed (with permits included) and B. Have people sign a disclaimer before I would even CONSIDER buying one of the Tank Tops.

I wonder why with everyone doubting them so much on here why they haven't posted again? Kinda weird. I'm just saying.
Because they came here once, to spam thier tank tops to the members of this board.
They have no intrest in contributing to this community. they just wanna sell shirts.
I bet they dont even know the nature of this duscussion because they have not signed back on since they made 3 identical posts on the same day, pimping out the tank tops....
i highly suggest that everyone not help them out in any way. from the email i got from them its CLEAR they just want to sell crappy shirts, make you do ALL the work for free and then profit off of your likeness.
if i see my face on anything they make i will be taking them to court if possible.
a station to download the video you took to them... hrmm reall shady now folks
Bonnaroo is fast approaching, and since it will be here before we know it, Michael and I just wanted to send out a quick update!
We are really excited that we just got our stickers in and are wondering if any of you guys would be interested in using them to help us spread the word. We were hoping that you guys could tag on your drive into Bonnaroo. We want you to have fun with this. So take pictures, video, etc! If you are interested in getting a few stickers email us your address and we'll do our best to get them to you as soon as we can.
We also wanted you guys to know that we have partnered up with the tumblr bonnaroomeetup group. So our first meetup will be on Thursday night at 7 near the Solar Stage. Try to wear your behind the roo gear! If you haven't gotten your tees or tanks yet, there are only a few more days. (behindtheroo.goodsie.com) THE LAST DAY TO ORDER IS TUESDAY MAY 24th...but the sooner you order the better! This is a really great way to find others involved in the project, and make new friends!
For those of you who will be filming, we have a couple suggestions on what to film: * Show us what you are packing in your car * Introduce to yourself and your friends, where you're from, age, other key details you want us to know * Film some of your drive in - if you got stickers and are tagging this would be a good time to record it! * Any interesting meetups along the way * Tell us about why you and your friends are going to Bonnaroo (who you wanna see, goals, what Bonnaroo means to you) * Film a little bit of your campsite, so we can get an idea of how you 'do roo' * Once you are there, just have fun with it! Film anything that you think captures what Bonnaroo is all about. * At the beginning/end of the day, or festival consider doing a quick recap or highlight of your experiences so far or plans for the day.
We are going to have a charging station/station for downloading your footage. More details to come...
Also, we will be live blogging through our tumblr - behindtheroo.tumblr.com - so if any of your friends are family are going tell them that they can keep track of what is going on at the festival. We will also be tweeting and facebooking about where we are, and where our campsite is. So this may also be a way for you guys to keep track of us during Bonnaroo. Our campsite will also have a large flag to help you find us more easily!
We are still working out some details, so keep your eyes peeled for a few more behindtheroo update emails in the coming weeks.
We are so excited that you all have decided to be a part of our project. Please don't be afraid to contact us if you need anything or have any questions. We want this to be a positive experience for everyone involved, whether you are filming for us, or just coming to party! Have a great weekend everyone!
