Born and raised in the Twin Cities. I'm going with my sister and a friend- all rookies! We'll be leaving stupid early on Wednesday to make it down that night. We're happy to be in BFE if it means getting to sleep Wednesday night and relaxing Thursday instead of being exhausted and waiting in line all day.
i lived in the TCs for 5 years during my find myself teen into adulthood years and as much love as i have for the cities i never want to live there again..
the girls were just way too stuck up for girls that shouldnt be stuck up.. and weather 7 months a year isnt cool
dfuttdotcom, my friends and I are leaving Wednesday at like 2 or 3am. We figure we'd rather drive all day than all night. We don't want to drive through Wed night to get there Thurs morning and then be exhausted all day, kwim? Not a great way to start off the weekend. It's about a 15 hour drive, so we'll get there 5-6 Wednesday night. Gates open Wed at 7pm. That said, I'm a roo virgin and have no idea what I'm talking about
i should have stated all the girls i ran with were stuck up, but thats my fault haha
the women out number the men 2 to 1 got parks and zoos and things to do with my crew.. the nightlife aint all that but thats okay i dont need to be distracted by the devil everday..
i think i saw atmosphere a total of 20-30 times while i was up there. i went to so many shows i love the music scene. was never hard to get into places..
and im having a friend bring me down some patron when they come to visit next week! its $65 a bottle here and $40 there!!
oh and drive though Iowa, dont go through Wisconsin or Illinois it will take longer with traffic, if you are brining no no words just run the limit and hide them real good. most cops in iowa dont have drug dogs!
What we did last year and will do again this year.
Leave early tuesday morning, arrive in TN around 8 or 9pm, rent super cheap motel for the night near Nashville, wake up around 11am Wednesday after a full nights rest, spend entire day experiencing the best Nashville has to offer, hit the road to Manchester (about an hour or so south) around 4pm, grab a bite to eat, grab last minute items at Walmart, then sit in line Wednesday evening, wait to get let in, set up camp, party, drink, sleep!
Key is getting that motel Tuesday, it may cost ya a few bucks but it was well worth it. Fuck if i wanted to set up tent immediately after driving 16 hours.
Me and my brother live in St. Paul, MN and are going this year. Anyone need a ride to split gas or has room for 2 in there car. Please let me know either way.

This is not a paid advertisement nor do I have any interest in any way other than reserving our spot.. ;D There's a 'camp ground' called the Bean Pot about an hour and a half away from the farm. Cozy. extremely clean bathrooms and showers. They have the cutest cabins (for 2 -6 people from what i read online). All cheaper than any motel whether cabin or rv hook up. And much friendlier. We found this verrry late in the evening last year on our way in after 17 hours of driving. Checked in via the honor system and hooked up the rv. Great place to stop in inexpensively after a drive and get some Z's and a shower before getting into the Roo line.
Sorry, naterased, my car is full. Hope you get it figured out!
iravage, I'm already pushing it leaving my kids for 6 days. I wish I could leave a day earlier and get a motel, but it just won't happen. I'm jealous, though. I'd love to check out Nashville a bit. I've never been.
This year, I've already worked out two extra days of sitters so we can stay in a hotel the night before and the night after roo! Pretty pumped to get some solid rest.

Hey, fellow Minnesotan 'rooers!! Me and my boyfriend are planning to leave on Wednesday morning, get a hotel somewhere close that night, and head over to the farm early on Thursday morning. We're not sure if we're taking the car or the minivan, but if we take the van we'd probably have room for one or two people to come along!

I live in the middle of Minnesota. Flying out to my 6th Roo. Super excited for this year, which will include my favorite live band: Radiohead, and my favorite band: Ben Folds Five. Nice to see excitement coming from my home state. Hopefully i run across some of you guys.

^ and there's a country music fest that weekend. It's not goin to be pre bonnaroo Nashville, it's going to be Nashville with a bunch of crazy country music fans from across the country.

savingnine, our car(s) is doing the same, I think. The full nights sleep after the drive (rather than before) is going to help a ton. I drive back and forth to Michigan a few times a year from the twin cities, which is a similar drive. And by the end of it, I hate everyone and everything. I can't imagine doing the drive and then sitting in line for hours on end. I like my people and all, but that could be pushing 24 straight hours with them in a very small, enclosed space.
Hey guys, I just wanted to bump this and see if anyone local or on the way wanted to ride with us! We'll be taking the minivan and there's just the two of us and our crap, so we should have room for one or two people. I'll try to check back here at least weekly so feel free to send me a pm or reply here. Hopefully we'll run into some Minnesotans at the festival!

Hey me and a friend are looking for a ride! This will be my third year (and the friend's first) going and it looks like ill be short a car this year. I would like to meet before leaving though... My first year I drove to people off this site who ended up ruining the vibe at the camp site (they were even stealing...). I can even settle for a nice chat but would like to get to know crew no 3!
