every time I see a post from a young girl like this it makes me cringe. Absolutely no common sense used in putting this sort of personal information out there on the WWW. Even though the vast majority of us are awesome people, there's always that element of the unknown.
Please...if you need a ride, start a thread for your area and/or state, and then identify people coming from nearby, then pm them if they seem OK. Still not foolproof, but a lot safer.
Isabella, sorry to be a party pooper but I'm a mom of girls...was young once and I deal with rape victims as part of my job. I've also been assaulted myself, so I know a little about what I'm talking about.

I just think that the "flexible" comment was a little much. It insinuated something that will more than likely get you into trouble. I for one, wouldn't want anybody to pick me up and drive how ever many hours just because he thought I was flexible and had a cute tat.... Creepy. Haha. Nobody wants anyone to get hurt or taken advantage of... So I'd just be careful with what you say.
I want you to have a good time too...which begins and ends with surviving the trip to Roo and back intact.

I do understand, really. I guess I came across more stupid than I am, haha. I was in a rush before class and I tried put in something that I felt would catch people's attention and ultimately try to help. Like I said I appreciate your concerns, it's very kind of those taking the time to involve your self, but my one goal is to find a SAFE ride with people that I could meet and talk with before the trip. Thank you.
I just want to point out that, rather than mocking this girl for phrasing her request in a way that people apparently didn't agree with, we could all be trying to help her locate a safe/secure form of transport. I feel like rather than saying "hey, get ready for teh rape!!!," it's better to say "hey, I know some people coming from here, maybe they can help."
I don't know anyone from that area or else I would have done exactly that. And I didn't mean to come off as alarmist, but a reality check was in order. I certainly didn't plan on being raped as a teenager, and had I known then what I know now, it might not have happened. Anything I can do to help another girl avoid it is just one way of paying it forward.

izz - the point people are making is that your request for a ride sounds more like a personal ad in an adult newspaper. Please check the threads for people near your area who are offering rides and try to find somebody who you feel is not a stalker. I think the best thing would be to find a group of mixed gender and get enough personal info and references so that you can feel comfortable that they really are safe.
As you can see there are plenty of people on the boards who are concerned about your safety but it only takes one slimeball to put you in a dangerous situation.
Thanks again guys I appreciate the concern. And zenfp, I've had my fair share of, well, not rape, but a good amount of, uh, can't find the words without revealing too much and ultimately making others feel uncomfortable, haha. But yes, juggs DOES care. Hah.
