AT Bonnaroo? Do you know the cause of death. How very sad.
Yes, AT Bonnaroo. It was Hyperthermia, aka heat stroke.
Rule #1: Drink lots of water. Then drink some more. Rule #2: See rule #1
Rule #3: Make sure you have a steady sodium intake. If you've been drinking a lot and you're cramping, get some salt in the system.
Overhydration can be dangerous, especially in hot weather. If you've had too much water, your body will have a harder time maintaining healthy bodily functions. That, and it can be a rather uncomfortable experience.
True story! I plan on alternating water with gatorade or something and also bringing some salted almonds to balance out those electrolytes.
But back to the topic of the thread. If the gates open on Wednesday night again this year how many of you plan on trying to get in that night as opposed to Thursday?

That actually doesn't sound too bad. I've heard horror stories of the 9-10 hour wait in line. 6 hours I can roll with. I'm thinking we'll go Wednesday night. It'll be me and my two sisters-in-law so I'm sure we can entertain each other for a few hours in line.

My friends and I left the walmart parking lot at about 4:30pm on Wednesday to get in line. The line we got in stopped moving 2 or 3 times total...we were in our camping spot by 5:30 at the latest. It was absolutely amazing, and if you can swing it, I recommend the early arrival. After some of the horror stories I heard, it was such a relief.
I don't know...last year we got in line midnight on Wednesday....and didn't get our camping spot until 6:30-7 am. After a 14 hour drive to get there, that was not fun at all. This year I will probably get a hotel a couple hours away for Wednesday night, and drive in early Thursday morning.

This has probably already been addressed. I didn't go last year, which was the first year they "officially" started letting people in on Wednesday night. Did this do anything for the line queue throughout the day on Thursday, or is it still a total crapshoot?

Last year was my first Roo, I read all the advice and it helped alot. The bigger thing I learned from actually going was, being rested at the start is worth more than you think. I got up Wednesday 3:30 am (this is usual for me) went to work (half day) left at 9am got home, finished packing, loading, then on the road. In line 11pm set up camp 5am went to sleep 6am up at 10 am. I never felt fully rested and was tired most all weekend. This year no work on Wed. Leave Tuesday late 11pm get into Nashville get a hotel and sleep. Get in line by 7 pm so I can be set up and more good sleep before Roo starts happening.

This. I have totally screwed myself the last two years trying to come in overnight Thursday morning and have ended up crashing before Thursday's sets are over. I am ready for Friday, but the closers on Thursday have been bands I have wanted to see.

I came in overnight the last two years and the lines seemed comparable IMO. I don't know about how things are from the morning hours on though.

it wasn't the amount of time as much as the timing. this year i want to get in and set-up with enough time to take a decent nap before the sun comes up.
I know it's still very early, but I'd love to hear more feedback from folks who went last year regarding how the new gate times worked out. Example: Got in line on Xday at X:XX, and was at "Y" campsite at Z:ZZ.
I haven't been to 'Roo since '09 when we drove an RV down from MA, got in line at 6am and didn't get parked (in the far NW corner) until about 1pm. I am NOT driving a 30' RV from MA to TN ever again by the way! So I'm thinking about renting a GA onsite RV this year... anyone go that route? Where were they parked?

"The campgrounds are based on a first come first serve basis so the earlier you arrive the closer you will be to Centeroo. Note this year gates will open at 7PM on Wednesday June 6th."
The official answer from a Bonnaroo Rep on Get Satisfaction regarding the best time to arrive. I had to disagree with her.
"What determines where you camp? The Tollbooth you enter through and the time you arrive. Does this mean some people get “better” camping spots than others? Yeah, it does. Life is unfair. But no matter where you camp, you’re close to bathrooms, water, security and medical staff."

Everything I have seen her answer on there starts with "As "so ans so" said .."
do they say that every year? maybe they're changing the way they fill up the camp sites this year... kinda doubt it though
I am pretty sure that is what they said last year as well. I think the reps are stuck to a certain extent because they have to give the "official" answers whereas people not associated with Bonnaroo can say whatever they want.
After I said it, another guy (he goes my mcr22113 on here) agreed that the "first come, first serve" idea is not at all accurate.
i recall in past years the highway patrol making them open early on wed night because of congestion on 24. unless you come in early as a vendor or vol there is no way to tell when or where you will get in. i have been on 24 looking at the 112 exit just to have a statie direct me and a long line of cars to the next exit and go in a back way to wait in another line after being so close.

i live in knoxville. i'm gonna head down I40 to cookeville, TN, then dogleg down 111 to manchester, the back entrance, hopefully arrive in line at around 11 or 12 am on wednesday morning, get in real early. every year they say it will open about 7 hours later than they actually open.
