Someone in the Bonnaroo Volunteers Facebook group got a confirmation that they will no longer be staffing the tollbooths with volunteers. Paid security staff would be my first guess for a replacement but that would be a total guess.

Good or bad?
Bad. Going from kids who are just there for a free ticket to people who are paid and trained means you better start hiding everything wayyyyy better
And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know you realize that life goes fast - It's hard to make the good things last-you realize the sun doesn't go down - It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round

Also, I can't decide if things may be quicker because they would be professional and therefore more efficient or things will take longer because I doubt they would staff paid people at the rate they staff volunteers.
Y'all are acting like they gonna check your butt. If you weren't hiding your stuff there in the first place you're doing it wrong
That's not what the nice man with the gun and $500 in Mexico told me.
I might actually leave the glass bottles at home, rather than just making sure they aren't on top of everything else in my cooler. I never put those in my butt.

Oh we were talking about glass?
Yes, and other stuff. And I edited my last post. In any case, I don't hide thing sup my butt, usually. Besides, there are plenty of places within an average car to hide small items without any need for lube or any cleanup later. I wouldn't test Border Patrol, but Bonnaroo volunteers have never been known to be the most thorough. Evidence: the smell of ganj in the morning (smells like victory) and all day throughout the campgrounds.

Even paid staff at fests like Shaky Knees or the ones into Centeroo barely check. This is a good move considering the 12+ hour wait times of last year. It seems purely logistical.

So basically instead of having your vehicle search and then rolling up a few feet to get wristband scanned it'll all happen at once?
thejeremy works for FESS security, and I am telling you this is a good thing. FESS security already works Bonnaroo for the stages. When I finally see him on Saturday I will see if he can get more information and if they are staffing more people from FESS.

Questions: First roo since 2013. I got Wednesday entry. Are the entrances 24 hours starting Tuesday? does my Wednesday entry cover me for a 12:05 am arrival on Wednesday 6/14/23? What would they say if I showed up at 11:30 pm Tuesday (Turn me away to back of line, let me wait, let me in)?
trying to time my arrival to get in at midnight with the lines and stuff. How are the Tuesday Wednesday night lines anyways? thanks in advance.

Last year, they said the tollbooths would open at 8 a.m. and you had to be in line by 8 p.m., and it looks like that’s what they intend for this year too. Their FAQ was updated 9 days ago, so I think it’s current:
In practice, with a smaller crowd, I’m not sure if they stuck to this last year. We had a very minimal line and entered midday Thursday, so I can’t speak to the timeframe you’re considering. Hope this helps a bit.

I don't remember what time I got to the tollbooths on Wednesday in 2022 (1 pm? 2pm?) because we had to wait a while at willcall when Propeller didn't send names with tickets, but there was literally NO line. We rolled right into the West gate and were directed straight to the police search. They were nice and the search was brief, but they did let their dog climb in my truck and shake a pillow. Only took a few minutes form there to get through. It was amazing and shocking, even with the small crowd. The complete opposite of most years.
We might do whatever they call VIP camping next year since we'll have more of a group and would really like to be able to get back and forth between camp and Centeroo quickly. No idea how that entrance will be, and there's already a waitlist, apparently. It might be nice that they've separated camping passes form VIP Centeroo tickets, or at least be worth the upgrade from the crapshoot of GA camping.
They didn't adhere to that last year. We rolled in at like 7a-ish.
That's super strange, I had friends roll in wednesday around 7:15 and they were told to come back at 8am when the tollbooth opened. This was over on the group camping side, perhaps GA tollbooth was a different beast?

Just to throw in my two cents for anyone reading this:
I did Tuesday Entry and Groop camping last year. I showed up at 8am, when the farm opened and was the second person into Bonnaroo. As neat as that was, I 100% recommend against this as I was dying by the start of the festival. That Tennessee heat is no joke, even as a Floridian. Tuesday crowds are nonexistent- Groop Camping threw a Tuesday pre-party that was only attended by a few hundred people at most. Though fun, if your main concern is a good spot then showing up early on Wednesday isn't the worst plan.

We literally rolled in at 7am in groop with no issues on Wednesday morning. We were worried because we were so early. IDK what your friends are talking about.

Maybe they were Eastern time zone folks and didn't realize it was actually 6:15? Probably not since phones automatically change because they get the time from the network but it's plausible. I always forget we gain an hour on the trip there, then get an extra kick in the crotch losing an hour on that awful drive home.
