This has probably already been addressed. I didn't go last year, which was the first year they "officially" started letting people in on Wednesday night. Did this do anything for the line queue throughout the day on Thursday, or is it still a total crapshoot?
Last year was there first year opening early I thought I got there wed at midnight and was setup up my camp at 630......you also get quite the second wind once you pass the gates. We were all like lets nap when we gets in. Then it was like ....Lets not and say we did!!!!!also to be noted a friend of ours arrived on Thursday at 8am got right in and was in camp Hansel and I was in chewbacca so to answer your question yes...total crap shoot just come when you can but there doesn't seems to be a strategic answer. Some win some lose.
BTW I would wait 7 hours every year if I had too.. hopefully I dont.. but if you dont get drunk in the line and fall asleep and mess up the flow. It can actually be kinda fun to meet your "line buddies"..plus I am from Philadelphia and you know we love our tailgating..or is this case roogaiting ;D

I got in around sunset on Wednesday night, set up before night. I think we were only in line for about 2 or 3 hours but was in a pretty good camp about 25-25 mins from the shows. What happens that makes the wait 7 hours? Is it dead stopped and people just hanging out? Do they close the gate and make people wait till morning? Sounds like it could be a good time..
Got there Thursday afternoon last year, 2pm-ish at the main gate off Bushy Branch Rd. There was absolutely no line. I just pulled up to the booths and they checked me and let me go in. I didn't camp though, just day-parked, so no idea where I would have wound up.
^THIS. I was super far away last year, but my god I felt bad for those dust covered camps! Not to mention their sinks, showers, and portos are right on the main road. I did like the privacy of Pod 10.
I've been in BFE every year and hated it at first but recently I've grown to love the seclusion. You don't have to worry about your portos or sink or anything being super crowded at all times of the day. Plus it's nice to be away from all the commotion if you want a break from it.
Last year we arrived at the line basically right at the supposed open gate time (7 pm wed. night) waited in line for 5 hours and finally got parked at midnight at our camp spot... in BFE. Camp Gleek (sp?) VERY bottom right of map. The walk sucked compared to previous years, but as others said it beats the hell outta having a dirt camoflaged tent. DUSTAROOOO!

This year will be my fifth Roo. Each year except one I have camped in or around Darth Vader, which is only a 10-15 minute walk from Centeroo. We get on thursday morning around 8-10 AM. This seems like a good time because they have already filled up BFE and start filling in the surrounding area around tent only, etc.
^ I can't comment fer sure as I've not yet done TO campin', but especially since the campgrounds officially open on Wednesday now I recall statements from last year (where the campgrounds and TO were also officially open) that it filled up pretty quickly. I believe I have also read reports that if you get stuck in BFE/007 that you still will not be allowed to leave to move to TO until Thursday mornin' due to traffic.
I'm doing Groop Camping, meaning I already have a pre-determined camping spot, so about when would be the best time to show up with the least amount of wait? If it helps, I'd also like to be set up before the first show starts on Thursday. I'm a little hesitant to wait until Thursday afternoon to arrive, which seems to have been a safe bet last year (I did VIP last year so there was no line).

Last year we got to the gates around 9pm-10pm and were placed all the way in Camp Peter Griffin. It sucked as far as the walk goes, but the fact that we had the woods right behind us and the tents weren't on top of one another was actually quite nice.
This year, we're leaving ATL around 6am Thursday morning. I'm not even going to try to guess or predict where that will place us or when.
We showed up last year around 12-1ish on Thursday and drove right up to the gate (NO LINE!) They did direct us to the outermost lots but we were able to spread out pretty nicely.
If your ok with paying for their "taxis" to the venue, then it's all good!
I swear I saw them constantly until I wanted one. Every day during the brutal walk in to centeroo, we'd swear we were taking a taxi back to camp.. but never caught one.
I plan on meeting up with a group of friends that is driving down from PA and will be camping in their car. However, I am just getting a ride from someone to Roo in a car that will not be camping there. What would be the easiest way for me to get into Roo to get to my friends' camping spot if I am being dropped off from a different car?

Great guide!
From what I can tell, most of this thread is about the people arriving on Wednesday night or Thursday morning...what about Thursday afternoon, between 3: 30 and 5: 30 pm? I have heard some people say it is not bad because most of the people attending are already in roo, and I have heard others say that it is the worse time.
Also, is there a certain place I should aim to go in at or park at...I shouldn't need to be near my vehicle after I park it until Monday morning. Meeting up with a few friends who will have a camper.
