Aw. Whoever edited to OP today made my heart skip a beat with the "yoderoo tagged you in a post" notification
I made the suggestion that things like the maps needed to be updated but felt terrible at the idea of starting another thread. CKS offered to edit it, so the original yoderoo thread could stay. Yay, mods!
Anyone know if there is a place close by I could park my car? I'm considering driving, but i have witnessed/heard to many horror stories and am pretty sure my car wouldn't survive the dust.
Hmm why is BFE marked on that map on the bottom right....thats the vendor camping and some other camp sites that defintelty arnt BFE...Also how come some camping sites that are on the first map are not on the 2nd one. Is it from different years? The top map in OP's post does not contain where I stayed in 2012. My campsite seems to have been taken place by a text box on the middle right of the top map. Peggy olson.

BFE is the bottom right hand corner of the map. Always has been. The new camps in the upper right are Super BFE.
The first map is from 2010 which was the most recent at the time the guide was created. Roo did add several camp sections in the interim which is why the new map was added.

You might want to ask some Nashville area people if you could park at their place and ride in with them.

Hello, I am a first timer for Bonnaroo. I am coming from Pittsburgh and was probably going to wind up arriving at Bonnaroo at 5am on Thursday morning. Will the gates be open at the time or do the gates close at a certain time of day each night?
Also I am pretty dead set on doing the Tent-Only camping, so I hope that it won't be all full up by then.

The gates open up at early Wednesday evening and stay open after that.
You may have a challenge with Tent Only. Last year I got in around 1 AM Wed night and struggled to find a spot. (And that spot was on a kind of mini-drainage ditch!)

Thank you kindly for the information. I will adjust my travel schedule accordingly.
If I so happen to run into you I owe you some mead
Swing wide when you park (if they yell at you to park tighter pretend you don't speak english) . . . As soon as you park swing your doors open so the car next to you can't get super close. Pack your canopy so that you can grab it and set-it-up as soon as you park - now crack a beer and say hi to your neighbors!
Excellent advice, all around!2010 was my first Roo, and I did as instructed and got real close to the car next to me. The last two years, despite the parking attendant saying to get close, I left a bit more space. Honestly, they are volunteers who are trying to do their jobs, but I doubt they care enough to make you re-park should you leave an extra two or three feet next to you - they just want to get everyone in and finish their shifts. Once parked, the first thing I do is introduce myself and my group to our neighbors and offer them a beer. I haven't hung out with most of them, but it is at least wise to learn names and faces so you can keep an eye on each other's junk in case anyone shady comes snooping around while you're gone. As a bonus, your neighbors aren't too likely to encroach on your space if they know you're friendly. And yes, definitely at least start setting things up where you want them as soon as possible.
Of course, if you get a bad draw or really want to get close, park wherever you are sent and immediately make a mad dash for tent-only with your tent and EZ-up. You can make another trip for your other crap once you claim a spot. I may end up doing that this year, since my group might not go and I'd like to be close to Centeroo.
Thanks Mike. I got some finite answers in another thread. I learned that the shuttle doesnt run again until Monday and really his only option is to reserve a cab a head of time and pay the expensive cost to the nashville airport. Also he has to keep his fingers crossed that car actually shows up.
The other alternative is to arrange a ride with a fellow festival goer, with Inforoo being THE place for that sort of thing. Look for "need a ride" threads, or start one. Last year I left on Sunday shortly after The Beach Boys and headed for Nashville, with room for another person and a bit of gear. What would a cab ride like that cost, being that it would be long, on a Sunday, and from a festival?
My experience was not much different than yours. I'd say me and my friend queued up in the line to get in around 3:30 PM on Wednesday and at around 4 they started letting people in. It took us about an hour to get in and we were also put in POD 2 at the John Kreese camp (right next to the Gap Be Bright stage, which was awesome. Loved the free juice and secret shows) it didn't look like BFE was full when we were driving by, but seeing as it was also my first roo, it's possible I just didn't know what I was looking for. It did look like they were still putting people in BFE and my car just got lucky enough to be routed a different way. My guess is that the people that get there really early on Wednesday and sit in the queue for a few hours before they open at 4 get put in BFE. Anyways, we still plan on getting there around the same time this year.
One more similar story here. We got in line Wednesday afternoon last year, waited a bit on Clifton-Scott Rd. And New Bushy Branch, got in the East entrance within an hour or so, and get sent to Peggy Olson (I think), right by Pod 2. 2011 was almost the same, right in the center of Peggy Olson, though there was NO line On Asbury/Clifton-Scott/Bushy Branch. The shade there is really clutch in the morning, since there are trees immediately to the East, if not right around your camp. After arriving Thursday morning in 2010 then not getting in for about 9 hours, in Super BFE, we were bound and determined not to let that happen again. The Wednesday opening in 2011 was just the ticket for us, and it worked out well, twice. We left plenty of extra time for travel delays, then hung out at the Old Stone Fort State Park (whatever it's called) up the road since we had a few hours to kill before the gates opened. I also got off the interstate from Nashville a few exits early last year, just in case there were huge lines around Manchester (which there weren't on Wednesday afternoon).
This year I may end up going solo, in which case I may try tent only on Wednesday unless I luck into a killer spot. Not sure whether to try the same plan that worked okay in 2011 & 2012 or change it up. I'm not feeling like such a kid anymore and would like to have a shorter walk to facilitate leaving Centeroo for cheap meals, snacks, and beers, though the shade the last two years made up for the medium distance, I guess. Hmm, three whole months left and we are plotting our strategies, haha.

Thanks for posting this. I am not going to TO but I have two others in my car who are. My fear is going in too early and ending up locked in BFE again, which means my mates won't get a spot in TO. Does anyone know if I can let them out at the gate or on the grounds if I end up parking in BFE? I think we'll just have to go in after 8 or 9 and hope it's full.

Technically, no. They'll yell at you to keep moving but if you just pull over in one of the larger gaps between flag people and let them jump out with a tent or something so that they can walk to TO and stake a claim you can probably get away with it. That's my guess anyways -- I've never seen anyone do it.

I'm not entirely sure which thread it was, but someone did just that. I believe they said that TO was being more or less guarded by a few volunteers, supposed to keep it closed till 7 am on Thursday. However they also mentioned that enough people had done this by midnight or so Wednesday night, and the natives were growing restless, so they finally let people in. Not to say this year they won't have more volunteers.

Guarding TO seems silly to me, but it sounds like we might have to deal with it. My mates are from Canada, and I'm almost tempted to have them pull an 'I don't speak English" kinda thing and just speak French. Hard to stop some folks from setting up a tent if they don't understand you. Plus, once there's four or five folks over there, I'm SURE more people will come. You can't stop us!
I get why people stress over it. There is not much info on it to begin with (which I assume is because people that camp there don't want others to know) and people who have never been to TO dont want to drag their stuff across bonnaroo only to find there is no space. Seeing how last year there was a fight for space at car camping I would imagine by the time you went to TO got turned around and then back to your car there would be no space for you at all. Now I know it would all work out but groups might get separated, etc. Leading to people stressing over it.

I only camped in TO once, in 2006. I lived in Nashville so I just parked at the airport and took the shuttle. TO was down the hill where VIP has extended to now (I believe). The only reason I want to find out how it works is for my carmates. It's their first Roo and it's their honeymoon. They're coming from British Columbia and haven't been to Tennessee before, as far as I know. I really want them to have a fantastic time and, since they want to camp in TO, I want to make sure they can get to TO. I appreciate everyone telling me what they know about it.

Do they usually fill up BFE from the back to the front? The front being James bond? We got in around midnight or so last year and camped in JB it was an awesome spot!
Hey guys first time to Bonnaroo and would like some advice! Been checking stuff out but don't see too much on this thread about RVs. We are driving our RV in from SC near Charlotte NC area on Wednesday the 12th, so we won't be getting there till around 8pm or 9pm at night. So I see that there is a walmart right off I-24 exit 114. We figured we would stop here for stocking up and getting gas etc. So around 10pm at night on Wednesday should we camp it in the walmart parking and try to get in early thursday morning like 6AM(or do you recommend an earlier time)? Or try to get in on wednesday night with the early gate opening??? How will you know they open the gates early? word of mouth? on bonnaroo radio? Just didn't know how RV camp spots were, are they all pretty close to the centeroo? Are there alot of RV's camping? And no we are not doing the VIP. Thanks for any information and can't wait to go!!!!

Hi! - Another first timer question here. I have read through this entire thread, and it looks like the rules have changed a little since the thread has started. My Brother and I are coming from Ottawa, Ontario we are looking to camp from our car but aren't too stoked about getting stuck in BFE. With the gates not closing over Wednesday night, when should we be shooting to arrive at the Gates? 6-7 am Thursday morning>? Does anyone still camp out in the Wal Mart parking lot Wednesday night then head to the Farm first thing Thursday?
hsid - I'm not positive but I think to use a companion pass they need to come in with you so I think set up in GA would be more likely.
I remember the site saying that as well last year. However, I distinctly remember one of my neighbors last year had somebody with a companion pass come in on saturday and parked where the rest of the companion vehicles were kept.
Can you set up a tent in this companion park area?

With my first year being last year, my advice is that after you are forced off the exit to turn around and start heading back north (I believe it is north), start paying attention for the place they are funneling people in. Last year, we got turned around and never saw where to turn off. We ended up driving 30 miles back north, had to drive the 30 miles back to get turned around again, and the place they were funneling people wasnt really noticable. We just saw a couple of other people pull in there so we followed. We spent about an hour and a half driving that wasnt necessary. I am not sure if it is normal or not but it is crazy that they didnt have any type of sign or people out there waving or something. We could have driven all day and not known were to turn off had we not just pulled off behind some people. Luckily, once we turned off we were setting up our campsite within like 15 minutes.
Turtles are, actually quite sexy, if you think about it. I’m getting an erection just thinking about turtles. No, not a stripper named turtles, that’s not funny. Actual turtles.

It seems kind of unusual that they punish people for being eager to get to the festival. My friends and I want arrive on Wednesday and had planning to drive over night from Western New York to avoid traffic and save time. That would get us there any time from noon to 1, but from what every one is saying, gates will probably open from 3-4 so we don't wanna get there till like 5 or 6? And you don't want to use either of the tool booths off 24? They look like they are both off 24 from the maps. Sorry, total noob here.

It's all a crap shoot, I've gotten there the past three years at the time gates have opened and have had various walking distances to centeroo, ranging from 5 min to 45 min
