"The General Admission Campgrounds will OPEN at 8:00 PM on Wednesday, June 12, 2013.
The VIP Campground will OPEN at 7:00 AM on Thursday, June 13, 2013.
All Campgrounds will CLOSE at 3:00 PM on Monday, June 17, 2013."
FYI, official campground opening times have been posted on bonnaroo.com, but as we all know, the GA time is very much subject to change.
Okay so here's a stupid question (I got an answer from the help number, but I never trust them):
If a person has VIP tickets, but is staying in an RV in the GA RV oasis, that person should be able to to enter on Wednesday night because of where the RV is located but enter through VIP and be able to get into the VIP access area (where the pre-party and coffee etc. is, correct? It seems like getting the best of both worlds, so I'm sure I'm missing something.

You can enter Wednesday night, but I am 99.9% sure that you cannot access any portion of VIP until Thursday. After that, you have full access just like the rest of the VIP people.

Yeah - sorry, that's what I meant, after the VIP areas open. I've always been entirely in either GA or VIP, so this year's hybrid approach is confusing me.

Abra and I did that last year. We had VIP wristbands but stayed in an RV in GA. The only real difference is that you have a further walk from camp to the VIP amenities outside of Centeroo.
I'm very sure that back in '09/10 when I did 007/BFE that they opened the gates 6pm on Wednesday and this is before they officially opened the gates on Wednesday. I think bunny, ODB, and I arrived around 7pm last year in BFE.
I'm flying into Nashville and taking the shuttle in. Arrive Thursday morning at eight thirty. I'm traveling alone, my first time going to Bonnaroo. I'm a little concerned... If I get there and tent only is filled up do I have to pitch a tent in the middle of everyone else's cars and tents? Stripping down the luxury of bringing stuff in a car seems like you should be guaranteed tent only, or maybe I'm just a little biased.
I'm excited, but now that I see how much I can bring on my back and how much of a hassle it seems like, I'm wishing I would have put the 800 I've spent so far into a different kind of trip.

I really hope it all works out.
I am no expert here so maybe someone else chimes in but I think you could join camp inforoo and try to have them save you a spot? But again I have no clue what i'm talking about just an idea.
our group has always gone in on Wednesday. last year the local Manchester paper had brushy opening at 3pm. It did, we went through the gates at 4:30pm, since gates started opening up on Wednesday, do not get there to early, the po po will turn you around and cause you to have a delay, pull off somewhere and wait it out.
I'm split on driving in Wednesday night, or coming in Thursday morning. I did Thursday morning the four years I went ('06-'09) and got stellar spots each time (within 10 minute walking distance to Centeroo.)
I'd be fine coming in Wednesday if I knew I could get camped in Pod 1 or 2, both of which don't seem too far from Centeroo. My worry is I'd be placed in 10 or 11 (BFE), which neither my dad or I care for.

Any tips/suggestions/advice?
If you want 007 camping, be there early since they fill it up first. Aside from that, it's a crapshoot.
That was my question exactly summerteeth. I know there are two entrances into roo, is there a better one to shoot for so you don't get stuck all the way out in BFE?

it can be random, but i've found if you're coming from the north and get sent around to the east tollway you have a better chance of getting placed in super BFE.

Quick thanks to everyone - I have found all this information to be very helpful. 2nd time Roo' ...last year we did VIP RV on Thursday and didn't seem to have much difficulty. I will be doing GA camping this year for the first time and I know its a crap shoot, but does anyone have experience on arriving and dealing with the po po on different days/times? Im curious to see if arriving Wednesday evening or early Thursday morning puts you at less of a chance of them even being out there searching cars? Just kind of would like to know what to expect coming in a different vehicle transport this year. Thanks.

Unless you get a pretty decent, somewhat shaded spot in Pod 2 like I did the last two years But that may not be worth the risk. And of course you can't really count on how they are going to route people once inside, or whether the po-po are going to do something different on the outside.
I might try for that again, with Tent-only as a backup plan, but getting Pod 10 or 11 would really suck. I was out there in the 2010 heat and absolutely hated it.

Cars are searched at all times. Mine hasn't been searched yet, but my friends were directly ahead of me last year and got searched pretty thoroughly. The guy next to us in 2011 got searched and cited for a couple ounces of contraband. It was poorly hidden, but I saw them really going through his car carefully. Early-ish Wednesday for both of those times. If you decide to bring something that is prohibited, you better hide it really, really well. Of course it is probably a better idea not to try it, and just acquire what you require later. Arriving at a particular time probably won't protect you from the law fuzz. That said, it has looked to me like they seem to pull cars out of line a) randomly and b) based on the presence of dreadlocks on white kids.
Hypothetically, if you're found with a little bit of stuff that's not as bad as some other stuff...they'll just take it and tell you to move along, right?

The guy who camped next to us in 2011 got searched, some suspicious corn was seized, he was cited and was allowed to get back in line. He showed me the citation and it mentioned a surprisingly large quantity of contraband considering an arrest was not made. I should mention that he was a TN resident, and I don't know that someone from somewhere else wouldn't have been arrested to ensure that the assessed revenue was collected. Also not sure about lesser, more common quantities, and not sure it is worth finding out firsthand.

Hey folks, I've read through this whole thread and I'm still a little confused. Here's the situation: Friends and I are staying at the Comfort Inn in Manchester Tuesday night. We can get in line whenever and wherever we want on Wednesday. So:
1. When should we get in line? 2. Where should we get in line?

been scouring the boards for a couple weeks now, great info, helping me prepare for my first roo. couple quick questions:
1) lucky enough to have a friend who scored us VIP camping, non-RV. i'm arriving thursday afternoon, i know the entrance assignments are randomized based off of traffic flow at that given time but is there any point in the entry process where you show the VIP wristband or whatever and are directed to a set entrance regardless of traffic? does it minimize processing time? or are you only directed to VIP once inside all checkpoints/ticket areas?
2) my friend arrives fri morning, she'll be taking the shuttle from nashville airport. i see that the drop-off is right next to the VIP camping area. i'll probably have her pass on me. does the shuttle drop-off outside of the venue (i'd imagine it has to as not everyone who flies in may have their tickets on them)? if outside of the venue, is it in an area where i can get to it/her and pass her ticket over? or would she theoretically then have to walk to an entrance?

So as to avoid BFE this year. THANK YOU!!
If you're just trying to avoid BFE, just get in line later on Wednesday. I am not sure when the cutoff was last year though.
