I happened upon this show over the weekend and it's got me hooked. It is apparently in its second season, so I guess I'm a bit late to the party.
Finn is a human boy wannabe-hero who lives in the Candy Kingdom. He lives with his dog Jake, who has the ability to change his size and shape - and (as an added bonus) is voiced by the guy who did Bender on Futurama. As the title implies, every episode finds Finn & Jake on a new adventure and learning lessons along the way.
It's the kind of cartoon that has plenty which goes right over the kids' heads. I've only seen a handful of episodes, but there are definitely sex and NO NO WORD!!! jokes in there. Another reason I was surprised to see this on during the "just got out of school" time slot.
For example, in the first of these episodes I'm sharing below, the moral(s) of the story is that sometimes violence is the answer and that youth don't necessarily need to listen to old people. Just goes to show how delightfully demented and subversive this show is.

Finn & Jake help a lovelorn snail voiced by Biz Markie. This was the first episode I saw, and had me coming back for more.
I haven't been this excited about a cartoon in years and feel compelled to spread the word.

I've been a casual observer of cartoons for some time now. These are two of the most entertaining I've seen in a long time. You can surmise the drugs that the writers favor by the content. Chowder and Flapjack employ some of the same writers as these two shows and are equally bizarre.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.

Downloaded the first season after many good recommendations. Pleasantly surprised with this show. It's great. So bizarre right from the beginning. I loved Misadventures of Flapjack as well. this is a fantastic show.
Wow. Awesome. I loved growing up on cartoon cartoons like Dexter's Lab and Cow and Chicken, but I hardly catch Cartoon Networks daytime programming anymore. I had no idea their was such cool stuff. Regular Show is really cool.
All of these new cartoons are pretty amazing. I wish I had them around when I was young. Stupid Smurfs.
When I took Introduction to Television in College, every week in discussion section we had a pair of students give a presentation on a topic. Me being me, I went for social messages in animated programming.
My partner & I each discussed a different cartoon. My partner made the case that the Smurfs, a cartoon which originated in France mind you, had a lot of pro-homosexual and pro-communist messages. Papa Smurf is totally Karl Marx, for example. He also had a lot to say about the sausage party that is Smurfciety and how particular Smurfs (who shall remain nameless) depicted archetypal homosexual stereotypes.
I talked about religion as depicted in Family Guy, comparing & contrasting two episodes: the episode where Peter kidnaps the Pope & the episode where Peter tries to convert Chris to Judaism to be successful, which the network originally refused to air. I compared when necessary, and contrasted when necessary - as per the assignment's instructions. Part of the "contrast" part was me noting that the stereotypes played upon in the episodes skewed negative for the Catholics but slightly positive for the Jews. I played as my clip from the latter episode, Peter singing his "I Need A Jew" song. It really, really must have pissed off this Jewish frat type who was in my section. Our back-and-forth, during the middle of my presentation, was probably the most contentious discussion I've ever had in a classroom. I randomly saw that guy in a hallway a couple years later, and he still gave me the evil eye...
To atone for getting off topic, here's another episode of Adventure Time which I feel will be especially enjoyed by Bonnaroo-goers. It's probably my favorite of the rest I've seen and not yet shared:
My husband just discovered this and Regular Show. Love em both. Should be studying acls right now and I'm totally watching Adventure Time. We were worried that CN had stopped making good cartoons since Chowder and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, so glad we were wrong. I can't believe that parents haven't freaked out about this show yet (a la Invader Zim).

I watch Adventure Time with my daughter and we both love it! She doesn't "get" any of the adult content though. I really miss Foster's; that was a great cartoon.
I absolutely LOVE this show. Chowder is awesome as well. But I am also a sucker for Flapjack, though it seems like the first season was the only one that had consistently good episodes.
All-time favorite CN show is probably the original Scooby Doo. Boomerang is a lifesaver!
