Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
If I am remembering correctly, the first year of cloth bands was 2008. Thats only 3 out of the 9 Bonnaroos that have had cloth. All the other festivals I have been to either switched to cloth in 2009 or didnt do cloth at all. There are still several fests out there that do plastic.
It REALLY isnt that big of a deal! The cloth bands have only been around for about 3 years anyway. It amazes me the things people find to whine about!!!!
Im just jealous people are getting tickets. I haven't even gotten an email yet. I don't know why it makes a difference though, its not like I'll get to use it for another month...But for some reason I still really want it.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

Are we still getting those big cardboard/paper "souvenir tickets? I've been collecting all mine from various fests and concerts to make this big art piece eventually.

No one knows yet. They might hand them out at the ticket booths on the way into centeroo like they did last year for VIP, but they don't come with the wristbands.
You really should poke around. Every question you've asked as already been addressed several times over in this very thread.

I'm sorry, it just takes much less time to ask a question and to answer then to look around. I've never really understood people on boards getting annoyed by repeat questions when there's so many posts going on anyways. That being said, last year I got my ticket in the mail then they gave me my wristband at the gate, so I'm not quite sure what you're talking about. Anyways, sorry for being a N00B.

This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.

Because its incredibly lazy of you. If you'd taken 5 minutes max to read a 2-3 page thread everything would have been answered for you already.

Again if you had read the thread you'd know that wristbands are being mailed out this year in place of tickets. No one has gotten a commemorative ticket with their wristband package. So their either not giving them out this year, OR their giving them out at the gates like they did for VIP last year.

Was he annoyed? Or was he just explaining to you that all of your questions have been answered already?

Thanks! I wear lots of wristbands and bracelets and crap around my wrists and arms and it would be awkward to take all that off for the rfid to fit on the scanner. Thanks!
I'm not sure if there's going to be scanning in Centeroo this year. Since both GA and VIP will be getting RFID they might be doing it. Has anybody read anything where they say they are or aren't?

I only think they'll be scanning because that's the main way to tell if it's a real wristband or not. Just looking at it can be tricky. Scanning it is 100%.
Just checked bonnaroo.com and it says this:
Every wristband will be scanned as you enter & exit the festival site, as well as the Centeroo and Main Venue areas.

Those videos make it seem pretty damn efficient! doesn't look like they searched people at coach either, which would be a huge plus for waiting and... other reasons haha.

If you watch closely, you'll see that there's a crowd of people further back behind the "scanners". I think they get a quick search/patdown and then let you go through to the scanners. I assume this is how it will be at Roo.
The difference is that the people searching just have to search quick instead of search and also verify that you wristband is legit.

Ooh, interesting to see that they're planning to scan as you exit Centeroo too. I was wondering about that - I had a feeling they might be in order to be able to track how many people are in there at any given time. Will be a bit different since we're obviously used to walking out freely. But it looks like the scanning is quick so unless something goes wrong I guess there won't be a back-up to get out or anything.
As for the reasoning behind the switch back to plastic - it might be a cost thing, but there are plenty of other possible reasons. I'm thinking maybe the cloth ones were degrading too much - you get it caught on something and it starts to get fuzzy and frayed, it might get stained or muddy and can't be wiped/rinsed off like plastic can, etc. Any of that sort of thing might make it harder to tell a real wristband from a band of sewn-together ends or whatever.

I looked around and figured I'd just post here...
Bonnaroo 2011 - Almost Sold Out!
by Bonnaroo
5/11/2011 2:42:29 PM If you haven't purchased your ticket yet we don't want you to miss out. Tickets will sell out in the next few days, so act now and get your tickets to Bonnaroo 2011! For those of you that already purchased your tickets, we've started shipping wristbands this week, so look for them in your mailbox soon.
I'm just wondering what anyone thinks about this and whether or not it would affect a ticket purchase today vs. friday.
I planned on waiting for paycheck on friday, but will other people also be waiting for their paycheck friday?

I know the wording seems a bit weird....but I don't think they'll be scanning as people leave centeroo. That could just be talking about people entering and exiting the festival site (like day-parkers and people who aren't camping).
It's always possible they make us walk through the scanners when exiting but I'm not positive that's what we'll be doing.

Not everyone get's paid Friday, I get paid Wednesday myself. So you never know, but I would be surprised if it sold out in less than 2 days. I'm sure part of the message is a marketing tactic.
