Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
So me and my 3 friends are trying to decide which tent to purchase and we could really use some input from Bonnaroo vets. One of my main concerns is the size of the tent. We will be in the regular car/camping area and I'm not sure how big we can go with the tents. Anyways, here are the two tents:
I was always told that an 8-person tent holds 4 people comfortably and these tents happen to be the ones that caught our eye. I'll definitely take other suggestions though if anyone's got any.
Get an REI membership, find an REI that's en route to Bonnaroo and reserve and rent a tent from them. You know you'll be getting a quality tent with fully taped seams and a reliable rainfly. And it cuts down on cost exponentially.

I called an REI locally to ask about prices for renting a tent, but they seemed more expensive than actually buying one. I didn't ask about member pricing though...
Astral, do you have experience renting from them? How much does a tent for 4 run?
Is it kinda hectic? Are people jumping out of their cars trying to claim spots for their tents? Is there some wiggle room for people to move their cars and adjust their space?
From the title of this thread, I was expecting much different content.. and to say it belonged in Troo Music or What Stage.. I was wrong.
I have a Coleman 6 person. I bought it last year and fit 3 people sleeping on air mattresses and all of our clothes and such. Keep in mind that tents don't truly fit as many people as they claim- unless you snuggle! Go to your local sporting goods store. They usually have them all set up so you can see their sizes and such.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

Hahaha, that was my intention. Thanks for the info.... I'm starting to lean towards checking out REI for rentals now. If that doesn't work I'll probably grab the Coleman.
They say size is important but not so much for tenting at Roo. You really won't be spending much time inside your tent. You'll be using it to store non-valuable things (like clothes, snack foods, etc) but it will be too hot in there to spend any time. As other threads have said - just have a tent big enough to comfortably sleep all of you. Use the rest of your space for an ez-up or some type of tarp. You'll need the shade and ventilation.

Both seem adequate for the size of your group. I'd recommend a tent with as much ventilation as possible. You can always take a rain cover off at night if the weather's agreeable.
Membership is $20, which may seem high, but it never expires and can get you some killer discounts.
At my local REI: Any tent rental for members is $25 for the first day and $10 every day after. Tent rental for non members is $35 or $45 for the first day and $10 every day after.
Whether this seems worth it or not is entirely up to you, but from my experience REI is always reliable and cheaper in the long run. And their tents are all at least 75% mesh, so you can (if you keep the rain fly off) maybe sleep past 8h.
this is what I think every time I see the title of this thread can the OP change the title to what size tent or something
last year we had the second tent its almost as long as two shade tents could prob. fit with one shade tent unless you get a really crappy spot/neighbors
we also had the two shade tents plus a med four person tent and a large six person but we had a three car caravan
edit:guess I should've read all the post maybe change the name to which size tent to bring or just lock it
