Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
This morning I decided to attempt a "dry-run" at packing the car for Bonnaroo. It was good to start gathering things into one place. Here's how it went:
A 10x20' grey/silver tarp; useful for creating shade or a dry spot
A "class photo" of sorts
A twin sized air mattress (for me) and a centeroo-friendly folding chair, nicely repaired after last year.
A queen (or double?) sized air mattress (for a friend) and some carpet squares for camp.
A tote for food, toiletries and stuff. Mostly empty at the moment.
A 4-person tent, a 60 qt cooler and a 12x12 ez-up
A solar panel and a small camp chair (cheapo camera botched the jpeg...)
Some guy got into the picture! ;-)
I had to fold down part of the seat to get the ez-up in there. The cooler is also in the backseat. The solar panel is in a box behind the driver's seat.
There is some space left in the back seat area, including the floor.
There is also some space left in the trunk.
Notably absent: A sleeping bag, clothes, food, a little alcohol, toiletries, my camelbak, the battery for the solar thing, toiletries, glow sticks! I've spent a lot of time thinking about and getting ready for Bonnaroo this year. The excitement is undoubtedly building. :-)

Thanks for posting this. This will be my 1st time going to Bonnaroo & I keep wondering if I can fit everything into my Passat. Since I am bringing similar stuff as you this helps me alot!

try packing clothing in one of the large ziplock bags...easy to get all the air out and have a little more room in the trunk for extra stuff...
we have to figure out how to fit 2 coolers,3 tents,2 Ez ups, tarps, extra tent poles, clothing, other camping items and food into a Grand Cherokee...guess i know what I'll be doing next weekend after getting off from second job...5 of us going in 1 vehicle... someone may get strapped to the top of the car....
This word also has a underground meaning once you break it down. Let’s take “Bonn” for example and it actually turns into the word “Bone”. We all know gays use this word to describe the action of when they are fecal fisting their Cuban cabana boy at their sex bath house parties. Now let’s look at Roo, “Roo” is short for “Kangaroo”.So put the full true message together and you get“Bone a Kangaroo

Seeing those pictures makes me feel jealous...flying into Bonnaroo (well, Nashville) I think we'll be bringing a third of that...At any rate, my camping gear shakedown is happening in a couple weeks when I hit Sasquatch...I am hoping to figure out how to cram all the things I'll into the two bags, plus one carry-on that Southwest allows
The Thermals May 20th Sasquatch May 27-30 Bonnaroo June 9-12 Brett Dennen June 15 Tim McGraw June 17th My Morning Jacket June 28 Toby Keith Aug 16 DMB Caravan Sept 2-4
Me = "the friend" lol. Zac's my ride! yay for pictures!
woohoo! So we might be able to fit my 4 foot foldin table where the EZ Up is and whatnot with the backseat down... Might as well bring it. Your cooler is the tall kind that allows 2L bottles so that might be good. (or heck, we could take 2 big coolers... *shrugs* we will be there 6 nights, so might be good to stay organized and keep food in 1, drinks in the other?)
Find out if that air mattress is double/queen... I may just buy my own if I do the whole mattress topper thing if you're not sure (To the rest of you reading this, I figure that a mattress topper/pad will add some softness and make on top of the bed less squeaky and less slippery) If you can figure it out, then I'll buy a topper and just buy my own airbed of the same size later on.
To anyone flying in, I think packing clothes in the carry-on and checking a tent, gear, etc works out best.
I would've suggested this for the "what's in your bonnaroo corner?" thread but it's not really a corner and it's pretty long with all the pictures so it deserves it's own thread!
Hmm...this makes me want to do the same thing. Get out my big tarp to see if it's the same size (It looks about the same, from what I remember) and then lay out all my gear on it and then visualizing it will help figure out who brings what. I'll have to put it in my calendar. Kinda helps me get excited anyway, lol...

Is the big tarp going to be hanging off your ez-up to keep the sun off the tent? One each on the east and west sides help buy you some more time sleeping in the tent and a few more hours sleeping outside of the tent in the morning.
yup. that's the idea. I have another big tarp thats not silver (just blue) that I can maybe use to wrap around the Ez Up or something. or put the 2 side by side, take off the rain fly of the tent, and leave some extra hang on the side to prevent rain from getting in or something but still keeping air flow *shrugs*
There's something sorta cool about your chair picture, Ellie. Seems like there should be a sign on it. Something like "Out having the time of my life - BRB" ;-)
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

^^ lol
love the thread, I'm transporting supplies this weekend to make departing easier. our roocrew is spread out across the state of pa. should be interesting or a holy flippin nightmare
I'm not worried at all about fitting it in the car this year. There are only two of us in a car that held three of us last year. Missing that person will give us LOTS of extra room No dry hump... I mean... dry run for me

i'd make sure all the mandatory stuff (ez up, tent, tarps) is easily accessible for when it's time to jump out and claim your space for the weekend.
good point. I had forgotten about that, but then again, me and zacd are volunteering so maybe it wont be quite as chaotic... *shrugs* I'm thinking we have 1 huge tarp each so lay 1 of those out to claim some space at 1st until we set up the ez up and then the tent.
I need to still take my picture...I'm very anxious to do this but I want my mom to not question what I'm doing and for weather to cooperate if I'm out for 2 hours or something organizing my gear and whatnot. Soon, I hope! Very soon...

Our trip to Hangout Fest this weekend will suffice for my Roo packing dry run, and all of my gear will likely stay in there until after Roo. This year will be different for us though, in that it's the first time taking my POS Mazda Tribute. With 3 people, 2 to 4 E-Z ups, ice chest, action packer, tents, etc. etc. it will be a tight fit, and I'm pretty sure that our wagon (for trekking to T.O.) will be strapped to the roof... Packing was so much easier in previous years with 2 cars, and half of our gear already being situated in Nashville with others from our crew.

I have a noob question...what does everyone pack their clothes in? I know some people put them in plastic bags. But what do you put the plastic bags in? A plastic storage container? A duffle bag? Luggage?

Trash bag, then Duffel bag. The tiara stays on my head ;D

i pack my clean/unworn clothes in a duffel bag and/or backpack.
my dirties go in a trash bag.
the trash bag stays in the trunk of my car during the weekend.

my car is totally packed minus my clothes right now. I just wanted to see how it would fit, and it all fit in te trunk no problem. Not sure how I have that much room in an Accord, but it fit so that is all that is important.

I pack my clothes in a small duffel, or this weird clear bag I have. Clear ended up being really helpful so you didn't have to rifle to the bottom of the bag to get out what you wanted. Throw the dirties in a trash bag as well. I wouldn't leave them in my hot car though:( Maybe it's because I volunteer, but on the ride back, it's nicer to have a decent smelling car.
I took a bunch of pictures of all the items I could think of. Just need some sheets, might buy a mattress topper for the airbed, neon tape to mark guylines, my duffel filled with clothes, find my tablecloth clamps and bring utensils...freeze waters ahead of time...etc etc. little things but i pretty much have all supplies.

I picked up a mesh laundry bag for the dirty clothes; I don't wanna have to open a hot trash bag full of funkified Roo apparel when I get home.
We open it long enough to throw it in the wash and hold our breath while we do. We have a 10 hr drive and don't want to smell the funk all the way home ;D
