Hey folks! So I have seen many people ask about sizes of camping sites in GA car camping areas and I have seen so many answers. Seems the general sentiment is that camp sites vary. I am, however, a bit of a data trend wonk, so I was wondering what sizes (estimated) everyone's campsite was during their last roo.

Wont you tell us first timers and over planners?
Our friends that picked us up from the airport drove a Dodge Caliber, which is a wagon type car. We probably had an extra foot or two on either side of the car in front of us, and set up an eight (or ten) person tent without problems or pissing off neighbors. I think it ultimately depends on how your neighbors are, whether you can encroach on their territory or not. Also, don't take advantage of the extra room, either--they are your neighbors for the duration of the four days.

If you are trying to figure out a mock campsite at home, it's best to go with the low end of what you could have. The generic dimensions that they plan to give you is the width of your plus a foot or two on either side as the wdith. The depth is 10' or 12'. I cannot remember exactly. You can make your campsite wider by swinging wide when they park you, but it's not going to add a ton of room. Anything beyond that is going to be luck, so I wouldn't plan for it.
For our first Roo in 04, our site was HUGE! Enough room for two tents and an ezup.... The second Roo in 07 was tighter, but we shared our ezup with our neighbors and that worked our very well. Our last Roo in 09, we were not so fortunate. Our neighbors had set up a 15x15 octagonal screen room as well as three tents. This left us with 5x 4 feet. Not even enough to set up our tent. Luckily our neighbors to the left of us were heading to TO and we were able to us their space. It is really a crap shoot. And as stated above by Iowa, be kind to your neighbors, and don't hog all the space!
'08 - Room for a canopy and a 6 man tent. '10 - Couldn't fit a 6 man tent at all. Us and our neighbors had to plan together and angle our tents just right. Even then they were on top of each other in corners. If you notice the volunteers cramming the cars too tight give yourself 2 or 3 extra feet anyways, you need SOME room. Of course, don't be excessive.
Avg is about 15x15 and 20x20 is not uncommon but I've had as small as 10x10 (just barely big enough for my 10x10 canopy. Neighbors tied them together on all sides) and as big as 50x125 (called it my personal wook camp as it became an impromptu Tent Only for stragglers, most of whom were extremely nice.)
Plan on 15x15 but be prepared for a bit less just in case.

Last year, I stayed in Family Camping & they tried to jam everyone in there!! They wanted to park us approx. 18" from car beside us be we told them, "Uh, no", & parked about 4' away. We told next peeps pulling in & they did the same. We had a HUGE area. Plan on doing same again this year!!
SWING WIDE sounds like a good motto when arriving and parking.
Last year (2010) I was way out on the Northeast corner of the farm and the rows of cars had decent space between.
I had enough room for a 10x10 EZ up at the back of my car, and a small 1-person tent for supplies. Plus I had a shower tent next to the front of my car.
Our neighbors arrived six deep from Boston and needed a little more space, which was no problem. There was plenty of room for both of their tents and an EZ up.
You will notice that that thread is pictures of campsites, with a arge concentration on Tent Only and VIP. This holds three issues:
1) Anybody who did not take a picture of their campsite can not contribute.
2) VIP and Tent Only is essentially a concentration on the smallest number of campsites. Correct me if I am wrong, but I think most campsites are in GA .
3) If I asked this question their, it is kind of off topic. I have already got some great feedback from this thread.
sorry figured the pics would show the general idea of about how big it will be plus there are pics in that thread that are GA but when it all comes down to it its a crapshot just like getting a good park or not getting in a long car line just remember when they go to park you swing wide and when they tell you to repark just turn your car off run towards the porta johns and scream I got the mudbutt
