I scrolled down pretty far to see if there was already a thread on this. If there is, I apologize - please give me a link to the thread. If not, then here I go:
I live in Murfreesboro (about 30 miles away from Manchester0. This will be my 5th Roo, but only my 2nd as a Murf resident. Before that I drove down from Chicago. Last year, several friends came to my place and we had a sleepover at my house Wednesday night, got up around 8am on Thursday, and headed to the farm.
This year, I see in an email from Bonnaroo that they will be letting people in as early as 7pm Wedesday night. (I know that they have been doing this unofficially for awhile). Anyhow, I'm just sort of torn about whether or not it makes sense to go in Wednesday night. I wish there was a way to know where they are going to put the Wednesday night people as far as camping. Will they put us close, or out in BFE? I know that there is no way to truly know, but of course I can't help but ask.
Just curious if others are thinking about doing this...
If you would stop and notice that we number every day But allow the many moments left uncounted slip away You don't have to count them, just enjoy them one by one Then things would take a different hue and sparkle in the sun - Phish
They WILL put you in BFE on Wed. This just makes sense as they have to get the traffic into the back before the camping starts everywhere or risk people getting run over. This is why they do it this way. It will be worse in the dark (Wed night) so count on them filling BFE.

As my Inebriated buddy walks out of the Porto, he yells out, "Dude...I love this place...bonnaroo thinks about everything...they even put beer holders next to the toilet!"
Had to break it to him that that was the urnal. Good times good times!
Anyone with a placard gets in accessible. They can take one non-placard "accompanying" veihcle with them into accessible. At least that's the way it's been in the past.
Oh, good idea! I just emailed them at access@bonnaroo.com.
There is also a thread about being pregnant at Roo. Some of the ladies that have experienced the festival that way could probable help you with any concerns.

i'm torn on this too...i only live about 20 min away and won't even have to get on I-24 to get to the farm. I really hate the thought of driving 20 min. and waiting 5 hours to get in, but I don't want to be stuck in BFE either. I'd also like to get 1 more good night's sleep in my own bed. I was planning on leaving Thursday morning around 10, but now I'm not sure what to do...

Now did you move closer to Bonnaroo on purpose or was it just a nice little extra of a move?

It was complete luck! My husband and I lived in Chicago for 8 years, but then he lost his job and did a national job search. I will never forget when he said to me, "Hey, do you know anything about Murfreesboro, TN?" and I said, "um, it's close to Bonnaroo!" Turns out he was reading a job ad, and he got the job. Then I got into a PhD program at MTSU. It was fate, I suppose!

i think i've decided i'm going in wednesday night just to try to avoid the wait on thursday. does anyone know if there is a big difference from camping in BFE vs. Pod 6? I was around Pod 6 last year, and I know that was a pretty good hike.

Welcome to the Boro!
We used to have a Wed night pre-Bonnaroo get together in M'boro but that kind of petered out a few years ago. I just try and get one last night of sleep so I can stay up as much as possible at Roo.

My first Roo we were in BFE and really it is not as bad as some people say. Its a long walk but the beer and the shopping on the way helps. We are leaving Mississippi Tuesday night so we are in line super early on Wednesday and just rotate sleeping throughout the trip. I am a little hesitant but my hubs and his friend thinks it's the best way.

troo: last year my friends and I had dinner at Mellow Mushroom on Wednesday night. I think we'll do that again and get a good night sleep at my place, set the alarm for 5-6am Thursday morning and hope for the best!
everyone: I got an email back from access@bonnaroo.com. Pregnancy is apparently not a good enough excuse to get a placard, unless you have a verifiable medical condition. Not only that, they also said that, while i would be eligible for family camping, I could only bring 1 guest to camp with. Not gonna work, since I am one in a group of 5 friends. I really don't understand why the five of us couldn't camp together in family, so I wrote back and asked her to clarify, but yeah, that's the current situation. If I get stuck in BFE, I'm going to have to rely on those taxis for sure. I am really short, so my belly bump is comically huge, and if I have to waddle all the way from BFE to Centeroo, it's gonna take me an hour!!!

now my question is this- so they are giving away prizes for people who print out those carpooling papers and have 4 or more people in their car. Will they be giving away these prizes wednesday night? one of the prizes is an automatic upgrade to VIP. Now since VIP camping doesnt open till 8am Thursday, what happens if I show up wednesday night? Will they even be giving the prizes out wednesday night, because that would mean i would have to wait till 8am thursday morning to go into the VIP section...
hahah this is all speculation in the event i do win, which is slim, but still would like to know how its going to work. Supposedly they are giving away three VIP upgrades at each toll booth.

The problem here is that you emailed Bonnaroo instead of going to a doctor. If you went to a doctor and said "I'm going to this giant festival and I'm going to have to walk for miles unless I can get a temporary handicap tag" they'll probably give you one. And the Bonnaroo people don't care what you have a placard for when they park you, just that you have a valid one. I would at least try going to a doctor before giving up dreams of Access camping.

My midwife was also hesitant to approving the handicap placard. Honestly, between my midwife and the access people at Bonnaroo, I'm feeling like a jerk for even asking!

Yay for going to a midwife! She's probably hestitant because midwives are still not exactly trusted in the US medical establishment.
I did not call her an idoit but as an employee of a childrens hospital, I would concur that it is irresponsible at best. First 37 weeks is full term, secondly when i left Sunday last year it was 102, thirdly there is 90k examples of second hand smoke. If camping, there is little access to hygene, including a stagnent pond growning all types of bacteria. If there are any complications God forbid, to mother or child you are a horseback ride out of that place and a 45 minute ambulance to nashville. If you told every single medic that will be stationed there that there was a 37 week attending bonnaroo they would be aghast. Just a really poor decision as a prospective parent. Skip a year, sit out back with your laptop streaming video of it. And come back full force next year. Make a good decision for your child and you. Taking hits to your personal life so that your kids can have a safe rich life is waht parenting is sometimes.
Again, if you are a healthy pregnant woman, then you are just as capable of attending Bonnaroo as a non pregnant person.
In fact with that logic you are saying that anyone with a medical problem shouldn't attend and sit in their house at a computer.
It really bothers me when people say I can't do something because I'm pregnant. Especially if it's as simple as being outside for a few days.
It bugs me even more when those people are either male or not parents themselves. If you have never been pregnant or are incapable of being pregnant then you really can't tell me, a pregnant woman what I should or should not be doing. Especially when I'm healthy and have had three perfectly heathly babies already.
I know you weren't talking about me, I'll only be 7 months. But I think she'll be just fine. And if she happens to go into labor...well women have actually given birth without all of the aid of modern medicine. I'm sure she would be fine.
And as far as the second hand smoke thing, I'm pretty sure Bonnaroo is outside. So I don't see the problem here. When I'm at home I walk past people smoking. I don't really think that's considered second hand smoke.
