Pearl Jam will cap their 20th anniversary celebration with a weekend music festival of their very own making over Sept. 3 and 4, featuring The Strokes, Queens of the Stone Age, Mudhoney, Liam Finn, Glen Hansard and more special guests to be announced.
The event will take place in Alpine Valley, WI over Labor Day weekend, followed by a ten-date Canadian tour (dates below). As for the festival ticket info, the fanclub presale will happen on Monday, May 23 at 10am Pacific. General public on-sale will follow on Saturday, June 4. Tickets are said to cost $89 for reserved seats, $50 lawn, plus parking and service fees.
I live 45 miles from Alpine Valley. My only challenge is ensuring two nights off on a holiday weekend as a pizza delivery guy.
^^At first I was thinking that would be for one person over two nights, but then I figured that wouldn't make much sense if it's $89 for reserved seats and $50 for lawn. So I'm guessing the $252 would cover two people for two nights each, but I would definitely double-check on that first if I were you.
A Pearl Jam anniversary festival sounds so amazing, and I like all the supporting bands except for QOTSA; I highly doubt I'll be able to make this, but have fun all of you who are going!
cracka, you are correct. I am gonna try and steal a credit card to order tix monday, it will be just me going, and I would love to split the cost of tix and hotel with someone.

The capacity is about 37,000 with 30k of that being a lawn. You cant really see the stage from the lawn, but there are big video screens. Food/drink is, of course, very overpriced but I think they let you take in a small cooler of food (no alcohol).
I saw a couple shows there, both from the lawn, and had a great time at both.

glad to hear that.
not sure if i have a chance, but i'm gonna try and buy pavilion seats for both days.
if not, i'll go pavilion 1 day and lawn the other.
however the ticket situation shakes out, i'll be there.
Still not sure about parking, but I am ordering the GA tickets and expo center passes hopefully (just a pair for myself) tomorrow. I know the Expo Center passes will give you access to VIP parking.
Who is interested in going? Who is interested in splitting the cost of the lawn seats? I will have an extra pair, and will only ask face value (for inforoo members only) for them. Where are you suckers coming from? I am going to take Amtrak to Chicago, unless I can find someone to carpool with.
KDogg, how is the weather in Wisconsin in September?

Woah, I had no idea you could get lawn seats for ~$50 a day. This might be a dumb question, but is PJ the only band playing both days and are the others just playing one of the nights? It'd definitely be worth it to see Pearl Jam and the Strokes, this is like 35 miles from me.
Jhammet, the weather is perfect in early September. Mid 70's, doesn't rain too much.

I actually came back here to say I just read that myself. Fuck I'm going to have to seriously consider this. If I can see The Strokes here that would let me see Explosions in the Sky at Roo. Decisions decisions.
At Noon CST, I get to participate in Round 2 of the clusterquack that is Ten Club Ticketing...
Hopefully their servers don't crash this time.
I don't know why they haven't fixed this yet. Their servers have been a joke for awhile now. Getting Eddie Vedder tix through the ten club was a nightmare.
Found somebody on the Pearl Jam board with an extra ticket, so thankful, got all the way to entering my credit card info today and got fucked out of tickets, but still going and got my hotel booked. Coming from Gallatin, Tn. Should be fun.
I hope (pray?) that the Ten Club sale was a limited amount of tickets? I'm stuck waiting for the general public onsale, and even then it's a bit close to Bonnaroo expenses for financial comfort.
jhammett... it's late summer when this will happen. I wouldn't be surprised if it were shorts/tee weather during the day but getting a bit chilly at night.
A bit more about Alpine Valley: At one point until the mid-90s, it was the largest ampitheater in the U.S. It is located pretty much equidistant from Madison, Milwaukee & Chicago, making it a popular outdoor tour stop in lieu of playing any of those cities. The venue is part of a resort of some type (ski, I believe) which hosts five or six shows per summer. Acts I've seen there in the past include Pearl Jam circa 03, Radiohead 03, Rage Against the Machine/QOTSA 07 (referred to in hindsight as "The Battle of Alpine Valley") and most Phish shows I've attended.
