Rage Against the Machine/QOTSA 07 (referred to in hindsight as "The Battle of Alpine Valley")
I was at the show, on the hill, and almost got run over several times by big dudes all jacked up to see Rage literally pushing people out of their way to get closer. Couple times during that show I thought fights were going to break out right by us.
Yep, as much as I dont want to, I am taking my girlfriend to this... I would really rather take someone that will appreciate it, but oh well.
The last pearl jam show I went to was Indy 2010, and it was like 50 degrees and raining when we got there (drove straight from memphis), and we were in shorts and teeshirts, I froze my dick off that night... never again

I only get to see pearl jam with my best MD friend, who is a fanatic, she said there is no one else she would rather go to this event with than me. I cannot wait! We are staying in Millwaukee and taking the shuttle. Plane tickets, hotel and everything are set!

I was at that show too and was not prepared for the weather. I'm hoping to get tickets to this right after Roo.
What happens if my tee shot lands on a bird's back and he carries it out of bounds but then is attacked by a larger bird who grabs the ball and drops it in the hole? Is that still a hole in one? 'Cause that's how I'm gonna play it.

So is this legitimately sold out? On LiveNation if you put the cursor over the lawn section it says tickets should be available, but when you click purchase it can't process the request.

I just checked and it still let me add tickets for purchase.

Anyone interested in going to this? I have 2 sets of tickets (GA for both nights) and a hotel reserved thats about 35 minutes from Alpine Valley. I initially intended to take my girlfriend, but I have a feeling she is gonna decide not to go. We could split the tix and hotel (and gas) right down the middle. Tix and hotel have already been paid for, so I wouldn't need any money until sept.

At least I didn't get mud thrown on me though.
I ordered my tickets immediately when they went on sale. I actually had to use the old school method of ordering tickets by telephone, because they went on sale while Bonnaroo 2007 was underway. So I ordered tickets right away during the onsale, chose the "best available" option... and wound up with pit tickets. My friend & I were between the stage and the front rows of pavilion seats. I was in that pit, and yeah, as soon as Rage took the stage a couple hundred people bum-rushed the stage, crowding the pit and overwhelming security. Security had quite the rowdy crowd on their hands to begin with, with the adding burden of removing gate-crashers from the pit. I was pretty much in front of the stack of speakers to the left of the stage, about halfway between stage/seating. It was one of the very few times in my concertgoing career where I felt unsafe going closer. Well, I might have, had I brought a mouthguard along with me. As it was, I never saw so many unconscious and/or bloody people being dragged out of a show. A couple security guards posted themselves in the crowd about five feet in front of my friend & I, and we were actually glad to have them there even if it meant we were done with partaking of corn for the duration of the show.
I think it took us two hours to get out of that parking lot, between all the traffic and mud, but The Battle of Alpine Valley was well worth it.
As for the festival, my plans are still undetermined. I'm one of three pizza delivery guys where I work, with two of us on duty any given weekend night, and one of the other two is leaving at the end of August. It's making my ability to work out a switch a little complicated, since if I will have off that night the onus of taking my shift will lie with someone who has yet to be hired. If I can arrange either night off during the festival, I am absolutely going to be there.
My route to Alpine Valley actually takes me through Delafield, for what it's worth.
Are any of you looking for camping arrangements but have not found any yet? I don't often camp for Alpine shows, but I know for last year's Phish weekend I was at a campsite in Rome that had a shuttle. There are other, first-come-first-serve campgrounds in the area that would probably work better.
This place in Kenosha might be up a few of your alleys...

we are staying at the bong recreation center campground for the shows. too funny
i'd imagine that getting in won't be much of a problem/hassle since it's an all day thing.
how about getting out at the end of the night??
long lines and/or wait times??
1 more thing:
i checked online for lawn tickets both days and they are still available.
any idea if this fest will sell out completely??
Getting out at the end of the night can be tricky sometimes. Leaving Alpine is kind of... well, either you get a head start and beat the rush, or sit back and enjoy the bottleneck. It is not unusual for concertgoers to hang around the parking lot and tailgate post-show.
After Rage's Battle of Alpine Valley, it took my friend and I 2-3 hours to be able to leave. It was pouring before that show, and the parking lot was just a massive mud puddle. There was lots of getting stuck and pushing on the way out of that show. I've never taken so long to get out a venue in my life, in that particular instance, except for the time my car battery died and I got towed out of Bonnaroo 2006.
As far as tickets selling out completely... I hope not. I'm still waiting on a new coworker TBD to know whether I can go or not. I let the boss lady know that I preferably wanted both nights off & would be rather disappointed if I got neither. Still no new hire, and my fellow delivery driver already worked his final shift on Sunday.
