Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I didn't see a thread for this yet and wasn't sure this was the right board but thought we could use a discussion on this. I'd be happy to answer any questions any first time media types have, and I'm sure others would like to give their input as well.
Only thing I'm wondering at this point is how they'll do the wristbands for us this year with the new system they're using. I'm sure the email will come in the next couple weeks but it seems at the radio station they always put the wristbands on you, so media wristbands don't get sold or in the wrong hands. I'd assume it'll be the same this year but not sure because they're saying don't put your wristband on until you get to the gate. Anybody heard anything?
Hi! Glad you started this thread. I've attended quite a few times as a fan but this will be my first year as media. Any guidance/what to expect is much appreciated. I got the artist media list from the Roo press contact... how open are bands to scheduling interviews during the fest, especially larger acts?
If you are a small blog or working for a small paper the chances of scoring someone big might not be on your side, but it can't hurt. There is always a chance of running into some of the bigger names in passing though. I ran into Jack Johnson, Broken Social Scene and Ben Folds just to shoot off a couple names.
Congrats on it being your first year and anyone else who will be covering for the first time. As someone who runs a smaller blog, I feel so fortunate to be back for a third time. Soak it all in but do a great job so you can increase your chances of coming back next year. Not just at Roo either, I try to do a good job on music coverage year round and I think that really helps me getting to come back to Roo. You've never experienced Bonnaroo until you get to walk on the other side of that fence.
Be careful what/how you post here. The Bonnaroo PR folk are watching. I got a warning about posting. Just passing along the info....they don't like us talking about press on this board.
