I know I'm not the only one attending from the great state of Wisconsin. Who's with me?
I doubt my plans (I'm going VIP & staying in TN the Monday after, at this point) are conducive to carpooling/camping together, but I think we should have a thread for those who would like to work such details out. I will probably be driving down solo, but I would be open to taking part in a caravan with fellow Badgers if that continues to be the case.
i am headed down to roo from milwaukee. this willl be my first year and will be driving and going solo. I do have room for a few people if they need rides and can help out with expenses. anybody interested let me know
I live between Madison & Milwaukee. I traditionally depart from Madison, but my one tried-and-true Roo buddy will not be going after six straight years with me. I need to make a stop for good canned beer before I leave the state, and possibly borrow a few camping items from said buddy in Madison, but otherwise I'm free to drive down either way.
I personally prefer to take the route that goes straight south through Illinois, rather than going through Chicago and Indiana. Only one toll, less traffic, time difference of maybe a half hour tops... and that giant crucifix made for Godzilla Jesus marking the halfway point. At least, that's logistically how it works out from Madison. I know it's your first Bonnaroo, but are you familiar with that route?
As to when I am actually departing... I am not terribly sure. I know I have to work until 1am on Tuesdays, and hoping I can be hitting the road sometime in the morning hours on Wednesday.
My ultimate destination is a hotel in Murfreesboro, between Nashville & Manchester. Counting pit stops, I figure it takes about twelve hours to get down there. I try to get there around midnight, preferably sooner. I have a Madison transplant friend who moved to Maryland in 06, and Bonnaroo is the one time of year we're guaranteed to see one another anymore. We've got rooms at the same hotel, and like to rendezvous to catch up and/or strategize.
i am trusting my gps in getting me there as i have never driven down. i have found a couple of people to ride with me and there were a couple of people looking for just a ride down there. i dont know if their schedule will coordinate with yours but maybe you wont have to ride solo. a couple of that want a ride live up in madison so maybe if it works out i could follow you since you know where you are going. i could send you a message with the email address of the people looking for just a ride down there. just let me know.
I normally swap rides with my parents so I can drive a number of friends down in a spacious van, but since I'm going solo that's not the case. It might be dependent on how much space I have. I'm going VIP, so anyone who would actually enter Bonnaroo with me would also have to be VIP. As it stands, at best, I could maybe squeeze one person in and could only get them as far as Murfreesboro.
