So I was wondering if there was a way to help give our tents even more shade from the sun and I'm hoping someone on here has some good ideas. basically I have a 10x10 canopy tent with detachable screen side walls. The tent I will be sleeping in will be able to just fit in one of the open sides of the canopy, basically just having the door of my sleeping tent extending into the canopy.
Now can anyone think of a way where we could extend the sidewalls over my sleeping tent and attach them to something? Should I attach something to the sleeping tent? Use something external to hold up the sidewalls? Any suggestions. We'd like to keep the canopy tent as a little chill zone to sit around in. We'll probably try and put a tent on each side of the canopy.
Setup you're tent on the west side of your shade cannopy. The sunrises just north of due east and if you're shade tent w/shade walls is between your tent and the sunrise you'll buy a few more hours out of the sun.
Another thing you can do is purchase a tarp and strip it up above you're tent; two corners attached to your ez-up and two corners attached to your car or poles secured with guy lines.
Also, keep in mind that you're rainfly on you're tent will severely reduce airation meaning your tent will get hotter a lot quicker. If you can find a way to shade your tent using a tarp or a shade wall then I would consider opening up you're rainfly as much as possible.

Just keep rain in mind when you're planning your setup. If you're going to have the tent partially under your shade canopy, make sure you're aware of what's going to happen to all the water that lands on the canopy if it rains. You probably don't want all of that water pouring directly onto your tent
Now I want to see someone rig up a little gutter for their canopy. You could funnel all the water into a bucket and then if it rains you're all set to wash off your feet or whatever! ;D
