So, today they announced Hotel rooms for General Admission. Don't think anyone has done that before. Would be cool to have AC and not leave the Festival:
"On July 19, general admission festival participants can book their hotels for DeLuna Fest 2011 at the Hampton Inn on Pensacola Beach. The sales begin at 8 a.m. @ delunafest.frontgatetickets.com
The Hampton Inn, located directly on the festival site, has a number of luxurious hotel rooms with bay or gulf views. The Hampton Inn hotel rooms come in a variety of sizes and price ranges. These general Admission hotel packages are priced as low as $1,200 for a 4-night stay.
These hotel packages include 2 general admission tickets to DeLuna Fest 2011. Other perks include: one parking space per room, full access to your hotel room during the festival as well as access to the pool deck at the Hampton Inn. DeLuna Fest VIP ticket packages are still available at the Holiday Inn and the Hilton.
DeLuna Fest’s six stages and waterfront hotels along Pensacola Beach will play host to national rock acts as well as regional Southern Rock superstars. In addition to the hottest in today’s mainstream and indie rock scene, as well as seasoned headliners, performing artists will also be spinning poolside, while the very best in jazz and blues will be performing in a special tented venue. It's a shame they had to settle with Linkin Park (I will give them the benefit of the doubt that they settled for LP, and did not actually seek them), because this lineup does have some good stuff hidden in it, but all anyone will notice/say is OMG LP LOL. meh.

LP is not my thing...but 33 million facebook fans is pretty big. I am excited, this is right in my back yard and if LP helps them sell tix to move forward next year, its a small price to pay for the rest of the lineup...Which I think is pretty great.

I see what you mean about selling tickets, and I would definitely be at De Luna if it was in my hometown, but the kind of fans that are going to show up for Linkin Park are probably not the kind of people I want to see at a music festival. Linkin Park as the top headliner affects the crowd, and it affects the festival's reputation. It's like thisismyname said - people are just going to see the name Linkin Park and think "ugh," which is a shame because the rest of the lineup is actually much better than that.
Anyway, I don't want to rag too hard. The setup sounds intriguing, and this year's lineup is definitely streets ahead of last year's. I wouldn't mind making it down one year given the right lineup and circumstances.

I know what you mean...I didn't want to ever go to Bonnaroo, I am not much of a jam band guy. But in '06 Radiohead was there, as well as some old rocker (Tom Petty). Changed my perspective as well.
Linkin Park is really good live, saw them in '01 at an "Off-fest" of Ozzfest w Slipknot, Mudvayne etc. Don't care for their music but they are def a good live band with lots of energy.
However, this will bring in such a douchebag element to the fest. This fest is indie/hipster oriented and now there will be butt-rockers everywhere. Fest was 10x better with Jane's at the top IMO
I'm going and that's great news for me. I may actually stay Sunday night now, I was really disappointed they were closing the festival that way. Hopefully they pull some magic out of their ass and fill that spot with something special.
FYI everyone- Ticket sales were obviously so bad that they made it to where if you have a 3-day pass it is good for TWO wknd wristbands now. I got my pass for 100$ a while back so that means my girl and I are getting in for 50$ a piece. Pretty sweet deal! If you were on the ropes about this, you can probably get in for next to nothing and there will be plenty of miracles I would imagine.
Went Friday and Saturday. Friday kinda sucked. VERY small crowds. Cold War Kids were gay, Cake was alright but too sing-alongy. Weezer was okay, but they played Paranoid Android (wut?) which was actually really good.
Saturday was awesome, still a small crowd, but I saw 9 hours straight of great music. Big Boi>New Pornographers>Infamous Stringdusters>Papa Grows Funk>The Shins>JANE'S ADDICTION (!)>Kermit Ruffins>Ghostland Observatory.
Highlite of the weekend was dancing in the actual water on the beach under the moonlight and stars, with Manta Rays swimming around me while I was watching Jane's Addiction.

We had a blast at this festival! I know I should feel bad for saying it but I loved the small crowds. You could get so close and I think it was one of the reasons that the bands had more interaction with the fans. I saw many of them get off the stage and into the water. Matt from Matt & Kim was just walking around (I got to meet him which was a highlight for me) I really liked the line up and found some new artists. I hope it comes back next year. I had more fun at this fest than at Hangout.
This fest was a big joke compared to Hangout. It won't be happening again, they lost millions on this. By comparison, this years Deluna was smaller than the first Hangout festival.
Two key differences that Hangout needs to work on. At Deluna, it was easy to get free water. At Deluna, you can access the water on the beach. I don't know why they don't allow that at Hangout. Just stand some of the endless WET members on the ends of the beach to keep people from sneaking in if that is the big issue.
The vibe at Deluna was pretty weak. The vast majority of the crowd consisted of randoms, children, old people and drunken navy jagoffs. Had many altercations w/ toughguy 18 year old navy homos having their first beer.
During Jane Says, the last Jane's Addiction song, I was by myself, dancing under the stars and the moonlight in the friggin' water, when these two goons come up by me and start throwing a bunch of beer cans in the water. Totally ruined the moment! Got in their faces and made them clean it up.

Seeing how bad the ticket sales were, it kinda makes me wonder if Linkin park really cancelled, or if it came down to the point of "Hey Linkin park.. remember that $400,000 we owe you? about that..."
